Maybe he has reflux?? We have had similar issues and tried 4 formulas b/f enfamil AR. It still takes a long time to feed her sometimes, but it has been better. Sometimes babies don't eat well if the nipple size is off or if there is too much going on around them. My LO drinks best when she is falling asleep! Sometimes we have to distract her by walking around during feedings. We try to get her to at least 24 oz per day. If we stop feeding her as soon as she gets fussy, I'm sure she would only have 15-20 oz., but we keep trying, mainly by burping often and walking around.
I EBF but some days my son won't eat much. He is just too distracted. I have to sit in a dark room and sometimes I have to hold his hand so he can't distract himself. It is pretty funny to watch him. Maybe your LO is just distracted?
Mine is doing the same. He was eating 5 oz each bottle and now he only eats like 2 or 3 oz. But I think my LO is teething.. He just started eating less in the last couple of days, wakes more frequently and barely takes naps, is more irritable and grumpy, chews on everything and has had a runny stuffed up nose the past couple of days. So maybe yours is teething too, because I read refusing food is one of the signs!
