Just curious about whose birth plan is still on track for med free, birth center, home birth?
Also, i would love to hear any birth stories for those of you who have already had your babies and got to stick with your plan (or if you didn't, but want to share for perspective).
I had my 3rd homebirth and 4th med free birth last Wednesday. The birth story is in the announcement thread.
Re: Med free (still planning, who did it?)
Congrats on your new little one!
@OperaSingerMommy thanks! I am proud of myself. I know women have "big babies" all the time but i never knew if i could do it.
@cbolton19 if you can use water to labor, either shower or pool i highly recommend it. It definitely helps zone you out.
Second was born at free standing birth center. Fabulous experience!!
Excited to go back for baby 3. I am 36 weeks now but guessing I will go late again. First was 3days late and second was 6 days late. Lol

Typing this alone has me so excited. Your birth story was so very inspirational @komorebi! Congratulations, and many good and healing vibes to you and your family on the arrival of your son!
My only advice to women who are considering NUCB is to really educate yourself on what your can reasonable expect during labor and have a supportive team of people who respect your birth plan. I know it's hard to let go, but I think it's important to allow yourself to make decisions as you're in labor and let go of some of the control that we hold so tight to. There are so many things we can't control in labor. Just try to take it one contraction at a time.
I had a med free vaginal delivery at a hospital on the 27th (first baby). All day Saturday I was trying to figure out if what I was feeling were contractions. I had bloody show at around midnight and called my doula, she showed up at around 1am and I labored at home until my contractions were almost 2 minutes apart (about 3:45 am). Arrived at the hospital and was in a bed by 4:15, they checked me and I was 9 cm and the nurse said any time I was ready to start pushing, let her know. I remember talking to the nurse about my nail polish in between contractions lol! I got the urge to push at around 4:45 and by 5:08 am I had a little girl! The midwife on call that delivered was awesome. I had a 2nd degree natural tear (didn't even feel it or the anesthetic for stitches) and baby had a bruised face because she came out so fast, but other than that she was perfectly healthy! Oh and my water didn't break until she was crowning.
The whole experience was amazing and not as bad or scary as some people will tell you it is! The hardest part is focusing on relaxing as much as possible through contractions but it just requires a bit of concentration. In between contractions (even in transition) I felt tired but perfectly fine. Your body definitely gives you a break.
FTM, still planning a med-free hospital birth... 3.5 weeks or so to go!
Hoping to use hypnobabies/relaxation techniques and labor at home as long as possible.
Our hospital seems very supportive of any choice whether it be meds or med free ... fingers crossed everything goes well!
It is really fun & encouraging reading all you ladies' stories!!!
