cold while breastfeeding

So I have had a sore throat and now a crappy cough with a lot of flem. And my voice is gone. I haven't been taking anything because I'm breastfeeding. This is the first I have been sick in a long time. Thankfully my baby hasn't gotten it. Her nose is a little stuffy and she has a bit of a cough now and then but she dosnt seem to not feel good. We have been sleeping a lot tho. But is there anything I can take to get threw this faster

I'm getting over a head cold right now. I was worried about my LO catching it, but I BF and everyone I talked to told me my baby wouldn't get the cold because of the antibodies that were being produced in my milk. :) and they are right! So far anyways. Take some Tylenol, for the pain in your throat, and put vicks on your chest. (Vicks is bad for baby directly, until 3+months, but my doc said it will be rubbed into your skin by the next time you feed LO.)

  • I took Robitussin and LO was only 2.5 weeks old. My mom, husband and I were all a little under the weather so baby got a stuffed nose a scourge. But she got over it. I took Tylenol and cough syrup and gargled with salt water and it helped. Feel better soon!
  • I took Dayquill which is supposed to be fine for BF but I definitely noticed a temporary drop in my supply while I was taking it so I only used it for 24 hours.  DS2 got majority formula that day because I pumped almost nothing, it picked back up quickly.
