Progesterone check during 2ww

Hi Ladies,

Having an FET tomorrow morning. Then, next appointment isn't until my beta 10/9. I have noticed that a lot of women get their progesterone checked a few days after transfer to make sure the dosage is correct. I asked my nurse about this and she said it is not necessary because the PIO will give skewed results due to the way it hits your bloodstream. Ugh, should I push to have this checked regardless? Is there a chance I am not getting the PIO in correctly?

Huh. I'm not a doctor and can't give you advice, but I will tell you that my clinic approaches this a different way. If you're using the suppositories, it's no check because they're confident that the progesterone gets delivered locally enough to be doing its job. If it's PIO, they check you a few days post-transfer.

So, I personally would probably be uncomfortable not getting a check. Honestly, if your clinic is open to doing it, I would advise better safe than sorry!

@mclorn I also have a beta on 10/9! I am getting a progesterone check on 10/2 as well. I know if it is low, probably will be based on history, I will be starting Crinone immediately.

Idk if I have a pg check on 10/2 but I'm going to ask for one. My office is very light on the monitoring!

@mclorn I had my progesterone checked one week after hcg shot and it was 105. RE said it just means I ovulated but the previous month was 36, so I'm hopeful it's a good sign. Beta on 10/5.

I go in for my progesterone check on 9/30 and pg test on 10/7. Sooo nervous. What is a "normal" level for one week post ovulation?

I did 3 IUIs and for all of them I had a progesterone check to make sure I ovulated (also ranged A LOT, so @junicek I hope that's a good thing for you?), but my clinic doesn't do the progesterone check if you are on PIO.... I still would like confirmation that my #s look good at that we're getting the PIO in correctly!

@mclorn, I never went in for just a progesterone check after my transfers, I did injections. I would go in for the beta tests and they would check progesterone at that time.
Try not to worry about your progesterone levels. It's really hard to NOT do the injections so your body doesn't absorb the oil.

my temperature has been high since O day, however I did read that it may be inaccurate after doing the trigger. So many unknowns. Just praying and keeping my fingers crossed everything will work out positively

I made my doctor promise (multiple times) that a progesterone check is not necessary during 2ww. He said some clinics do it but if the embryo is implanting it will start to release progesterone in a day or so anyways, and increasing PIO won't affect the outcome. So there, I dropped it. Thanks again, everyone! FX for all!

Just got my results back from the blood draw today and I am at 28.2. The doctor was very happy with that number and is not putting me on any additional supplements. Praying this is our month!! Anyone else get their results back recently?

Hello Ladies!
I got tomorrow for my progesterone tomorrow at 7 am. Eek! Last month we just did injectable meds no IUI it was 17 - doctor said anything over 10 they don't give out supplements. But compared to you alls numbers that was low! Maybe that's why I'm here again... But this time we did IUI so fingers crossed for a HIGH number...

Just curious what does your doctors say about progesterone and the number... I like to hear what other dr's have to say...

Well I got a call back my progesterone was 27.1! So they said no supplements... And hopefully this is it! Anybody eles find out their's this week or today... ??

I was just told that it confirms ovulation and that the progesterone is at a high enough level to sustain a pregnancy.... Let's hope we see some BFPs soon!! @Msbender129 when are you testing?

During my IUIs my progesterone varied a lot, and my doctor too was happy with anything over 10 to confirm ovulation.

In fact, my lowest progesterone check was the only time I got a BFP (although CP).

I have never had low progesterone, but during the Follistim cycles, they automatically do vaginal suppositories. 2 cycles ago, Progesteronw was 38.6 and I had to continue suppositories. Maybe Follistim messes up Progesterone?

@Msbender129 Dr wants me to test on Wednesday, but I'm 10dpo today so I have a feeling I will be testing on Sunday. I know it's still kinda early, but it's so hard to wait!

Had my progesterone test today, 2dp5dt. My number is 34. The nurse said anything over 20 and they are happy. I'm on 1cc of PIO daily and they want me to continue that until beta day on 10/9. Really happy it wasn't too high as I was nervous about OHSS. =D

Lol. What I've learned from this thread: every clinic has their own levels, IUI pg is different than IVF, and progesterone tells them important stuff and us absolutely nothing.

@HBamama2B I was thinking the same things about the numbers. I have only done IUIs and my number is routinely around a 8. I never heard numbers so high but that must be for IVF...

@mclorn I just started Crinone on Friday. Twice a day until my beta, at least. I'm hoping this will help moving forward if this cycle does not end in a BFP

@mclorn no I wasn't. This is my first cycle of femara (or anything) and during my initial work up they noted low progesterone, but did not start the support until 6dpo when I had bloodwork done.
