Crotch hiccups

my DD2 is super low now. About 2 1/2 hours ago she started having a bout of hiccups. I can totally feel them in my crotch and it is the weirdest sensation ever! I can't even sleep through it.
Anyone else ever experience this? Any ideas on how to stop her hiccups?

Re: Crotch hiccups

  • Yes, that is pretty normal.  They tend to have a lot of hiccups in there!  There is no way to stop them.

My baby's hiccups have been low this whole time and sometimes they kinda echo in my bum which is super weird.
Maybe drinking cold water so baby shifts might stop hiccups? I don't really know how one influences baby to do anything whilst still in the womb.
I just think the hiccups kind of tickle so they don't bother me at all so I've never thought about it much.
  • I clicked on this mainly because I've experienced it and have thought it's hilarious. This is one of those quirks of pregnancy that no one could possibly understand unless they've felt a baby hiccuping inside. I've had him hiccuping in the middle of my school day, and it is SO distracting! I laugh at the thought of sharing, "I can feel my baby hiccuping in my crotch," when I'm with my close coworkers, but I would never (mainly because there's just never a time and place for that!). It's normal, and I don't think you can stop it. Just let it be a funny quirk ;)

  • My darling little one hiccups every night down there. It wakes me up and I don't know what to do. I can't even describe it to my DH who keeps asking why I don't sleep. "There's a constant vibration in my groin for a half hour" doesn't really have context for him, lol. Also, if I'm in any position the has my legs pulled up (sitting, leaning over, ect) she head butts me down there until I straighten out. I'm 5' and she's normal height right now so I'm sure she's squished and pissed :/
  • Believe it or not, this is my 5th pregnancy and I don't recall ever experiencing this lovely phenomenon before last night. It was definitely distracting and woke me from my sleep.
I finally got up and ate and that must have been enough to get her to move.
    Now I am tired!
  • So funny! This happens to me daily! :)
  • Yes!!! I've been feeling them in my butt for weeks and now feeling them in my crotch too. It's such a weird feeling!
  • I love the crotch hiccups!  Number one, it reassures me that LO is head-down, and I'm hoping to VBAC in a couple weeks, so head-down is essential.  and Number two, it's nice to know that she is healthy and moving and practicing for life out here in the real world.  (Although, I agree it certainly is a weird sensation.)
  • DS seems to get the hiccups every day, and I feel them in my bum or crotch. I tried to explain to my best friend what that felt like, and he could not quite grasp it. It's a very odd sensation!

  • Lol, this exact thing was happening to me last night! What a weird feeling!!!
  • Everyday! On my drive to my appointment just moments ago actually. It makes me giggle and hubby always asks what. My best explanation was like little muscle twitches in my hoo hoo.
  • All the time! My kid takes after her dad already and can not stop hiccups for at least 10 minutes!

I'm also 5' and baby is above average sized, and I'm experiencing the same things! Also lovely how I could finally breathe after he dropped, but now that he's grown more (38w5d) he's back to crowding my lungs. Because there's just no room in there!

Same here, I had a bit of relief when she dropped, it was like 2nd trimester again, until she sprouted again. Now I have hiccups I my crotch and kicks in my ribs. Ack!
  • Yep!! They were higher up and in the past week or so have moved down to the crotchal region! So weird!
