I'm at 28 weeks, and have had HORRIBLE heartburn for the past 12-24 weeks. :-S I usually head for the pickle juice, since that helps me! But call up your doctor, and see what he or she can prescribe for you. I have to watch what I take, because of my allergies. So Pepto, Pickle Juice, and Milk are my best friends on this.
My OB wrote me a prescription for preventative Zantac (so you take it twice a day and it stops the heartburn, rather than doing the OTC kind that you wait to take until you have symptoms already). I waited until 28 weeks to go get it because the Tums were completely worthless at that point...and OMG I was so stupid to not start it earlier. it was awesome. very occasionally, I would feel a tiny bit of heartburn so I'd take 2 Tums and it would go away completely. As soon as DD was born, it never happened again.
Talk to your doctor about OTC or prescription meds. It's so so worth it.
I finally broke down after MONTHS of misery and got a rx from my OB for Zantac and it has been a life saver can breathe and eat with out the hot acid spewing back into my throat
