Pregnancy brain

I thought it might be fun to share pregnancy brain stories. So I was just doing laundry and I put the soap and clothes in. Then a little later I went to the bathroom and noticed the washer was quiet. I thought the wash was done. When I went up to the machine, I saw the lid was open and I hadn't started it yet. Oops!!!!!

Re: Pregnancy brain

  • Just today at work I forgot to post attendance, attend a 504 meeting and lost my kids' bus cards right before dismissal. I also almost forgot to pick up my dog from the vet. Woops!!

  • Oh my goodness!! I keep forgetting to make copies. Then I go to teach the lesson and realize the copies I meant to make aren't there. I can't wait to tell everyone just so they don't starting thinking I've lost my mind lol
  • I am ready to tell my first graders so that they will understand (As much as a first grader can) why I keep calling them by the wrong names. And one kid is totally on to me... "Mrs. ______ why you drinking so much apple juice? You sick?" (Apple juice is my current craving).

  • I am throwing my mom a surprise 50th birthday party and I put the wrong phone number to RSVP to on the invite. I had to try and track down phone numbers and email addresses of everyone to give them my correct number. :/ I just wanted to shout "sorry it's pregnancy brain!!!" but no one knows I'm pregnant yet!
  • I think pregnancy brain doesn't exist and those who perpetuate it make life harder for working moms striving for equality.

(sorry - no offense to any of you, really! I'll get down from my soap box now)

  • Bold to argue science. I guess it's possible to not experience "pregnant brain" if you're never busy, stressed or short on sleep (all things that cause memory lapse). Most of us are all of these things though. As a working Mom myself and pregnant with number two I'll be the first to say, wether I want to admit it or not, I have minor memory lapses due to stress and lack of sleep. Men are not immune to this. Now I'm getting down from my soap box!

I put cups away in the pantry and didn't even know it until DH found them. Oops!

Really? My OBGYN told me it is a very real thing caused by the rush of hormones during pregnancy.

Perhaps, but I think it's probably more what @MillerMama13 says - stress and sleep deprivation.

  • I went to make oatmeal for my breakfast and left my office with the cup, measuring cup and spoon...... just no oatmeal. Was half way to the breakroom before I realized I didn't have my food >__<
  • I went to pick up my medication yesterday and the lady asked me to confirm my birthday and I ended up giving her my nephew's. Which to be fair it is 3 days before mine.

2 angel babies to watch over us- bfp 3/16/13, c/p 3/27/13- bfp 6/27/13, c/p confirmed 7/4/13- We will always carry you in our hearts

  • I'll ask DH a question, he answers it, I go "huh?" Repeat answer hahaha
  • I made a peanut butter sandwich the other day and after I put everything away I looked at the counter and it was gone.  Thought the dogs ate it when I had my back turned but then saw all of them outside.  Turns out my pregnant self took the sandwich and stuck it back in the bread bag thinking it was just regular bread.  Oy.

  • My dog means everything to me and we spend all the time together. The other day we went on a long walk and ended up staying at my parents in law for breakfast, I proceeded the whole day doing things outside and spending time with my dog. WHen night came around my dog was really really clingy and i was like why are you being so weird.... then realized i forgot to feed him breakfast.....(I felt absolutely horribble, i wanted to cry) needless to say he got a full all you can eat bowl.. Thankfully he doesnt keep a grudge....
  • Rolled up to kids' soccer games today and realized I had left their cleats, shin guards and balls at home. Doh.

You could also argue that dismissing a very real symptom women do experience may make it harder for women in the work environment. Making someone feel like something they are struggling with is made up or in their head could prevent them from feeling confident at work or being able to professionally talk to a boss or co workers about what is going on. Or even finding ways for them to be a better employee while going through a hard time. To me equality isn't saying women and men are the same. It's realizing there are differences just as there are differences in every single person. But that women should still be treated equally if they want to have a career and family. Not dismissed or told they are making things up during a pregnancy to make them look like they aren't as professional, hardworking or capable of doing their job as someone who doesn't experience this one symptom. Just something to think about. @redheadbride15
  • I kept asking my DH the same question thinking I hadn't asked already and forgetting what the answer was.
  • I Think I had my first pregnancy brain today. I went to get my bloodwork done and they also asked for another urine sample. I went into the bathroom, set the cup on the counter and proceeded to use the toilet and got no sample. lol sorry if that's tmi but I was pretty embarrassed when I walked out empty handed.

I definitely did that with my last pregnancy.
Luckily by the time I had to leave I was able to get some in a cup again. Yay for squished bladders.
