Okay so this is my first pregnancy and I'm a bit of a worry wort about things so help me out please.
I woke up this morning to some bad cramping in my lower stomach/uterus area. It's hurting pretty bad and it's got me worried. Will someone tell me if this is normal or if I should be contacting my doctor about something more serious
P.S. No bleeding or anything even close to that, just bad cramping And thanks in advance for your help.

  • Anything that worries you you need to call the Doctor with, they know what they're talking about and they've heard every symptom 100 times if you describe to them what you're feeling they will know if there is reason to worry and tell you what the next step is. To me any pain that doesn't go away after a few minutes isn't normal so I'd feel concerned too. Call the MD.

  • Cramping can be normal or it can signal a problem. We can't tell you here why you're experiencing it. If you're worried, please call your doctor.

  • It's much better for your doctor to be the one to tell you "this is normal" or "its good that you called me about it", not a bunch of internet strangers without medical degrees. Hope you were able to get in touch with your doc today!
  • This is my third pregnancy but my first one that's lasted. I can tell you that the best investment I made was a fetal Doppler monitor on Amazon. Anytime I feel weird or nervous, I put that thing on my belly and I hear the heartbeat and know everything is fine! $40 is great piece of mind!
In terms of cramping, yes I've had some mild cramping but it usually feels like period cramps and it is a sign that your ligaments are stretching. If they are prolonged, I would definitely recommend calling for seeing your doctor.
  • well, cramping is usually prettt normal. just your body expanding & adjusting to your growing baby. however, I've never had cramping that was really bad/painful. then again, every pregnancy is different, so you cant really compare.
you're not bleeding you said, so i would say it's probably normal. I'm no doctor tho, so if it's worrying you i highly suggest calling your doctor or a nurse line to speak with someone who knows more than most of us here.
