Hi Guys, I am TTC on November 15th. My Midwife annual pap is on November 5th. I figured I could ask all my questions now so I know what will happen and what to do once we have a bfp... please write out what you would ask. Thanks!
Hi!! We just had our pre-TTC appointment a couple of weeks ago. Just ask the midwife any questions that you have - don't be shy!!
Our ob/gyn recommended that I start on prenatals a couple of months before we TTC. We also had genetic testing done on both of us - this was really informative, and I'm glad we had this done.
She also told us what prescriptions I can continue, and which medications I can't take while pregnant, and offered alternatives.
Other than that, there's not really much to be done right now until your get a BFP.
I have an annual soon too, but can't think of any questions I have. I may mention that I noticed I have a short LP from charting. Medications is a good topic too, I'm just not personally on any.
@pupatella I kind of want to ask about what the process is after I get a BFP. I'm already on prenatals and don't need genetic testing. Maybe she will write me a prescription to better prenatals who knows. But it'd be nice to know when to call the doctor after a BFP and what appointments I should bring my DH for.

I would definitely ask your midwife what the process is after you get a BFP!! My ob/gyn told us to call her the moment we get a BFP, and we will have an appointment with her pretty much immediately. She also referred us their website, which has "pregnancy instructions". Mainly what you can do if you have morning sickness, what medications are safe to take during pregnancy, etc. It's about 3-4 pages of information and was really great to read through.
As for which appointments to bring your DH to, I'd say whichever ones you want!! My FI went with me to the pre-TTC appointment, and he's planning to go to all appointments in the future. I love that he wants to be so involved.
@Xstatic3333 it's hard I feel like my midwife is going to be like umm... you're not even pregnant.
Well, you're there for the pap and annual stuff anyway, so you are there for good reason! At past appointments my primary always asked if we were thinking about kids. I just figure this time I'll say "yes!" and then she'll lead from there. I think they primarily want to make sure you're on prenatals, but not sure there's much else to talk about unless there's a special circumstance of some kind.

Saw this. I think these are reasonable questions. There's time to chat while they probe around anyway.
Yea I have a complicated situation... I want to keep my midwife for backup but I want to transfer at some point to the only freestanding birth center in my state... Its an hour away but it's right across from a hospital and just seems perfect... A pain during prenatal though
