Pooping every hour or two?

Since yesterday my 10 week old has been pooping pretty kuch every hour or two if were lucky. Not huge holy mother of god poops but like...tiny amounts.

Hes formula fed (preemie milk never came in :/) and otherwise healthy, besides a mean case of eczema and cradle cap.

Any ideas? Hes so uncomfortable and its worrying.

    I don't know how old your LO is, but there was a period right before mine turned 2m old that he pooped REALLY often. I just checked my baby app and saw that he went anywhere from 5-7 times a day for about 10 days (he's usually a once a day guy, maybe twice every now and then). At the time I was slightly worried he had diarrhea, because he acted like someone who had diarrhea - he'd kind of strain each time and they seemed wetter. Not watery, just wetter. But, other than the increase in poops and the consistency of said poops, and his effort in passing them, he was totally normal.
    When I called his peds office after 3 days (it, of course, started on a Friday and the office is closed on weekends) and told them about it, the nurse spoke with the Dr and then told me around 2m their guts / digestive tract go thru a development period and some babies have more stools or looser stools or both. And that as long he was normal otherwise and wasn't dehydrated I should just remain aware of it but shouldn't need to bring him in, unless I felt concerned. By the following Monday he was almost back to normal. I never did have to bring him in to the Dr.

    ETA stupid me just now saw you mentioned how old your LO was right the top, there 8-}

  • To add - my LO was also pretty uncomfortable when going, we used the heck out of the butt ointment those days. That's honestly why I called the ped, not because I was worried I was sick - my intuition was that he was fine, just having a case of bad poops, but I felt bad for him always straining and seeming uncomfortable when he was going. I didn't end up using anything tho to help the discomfort. The peds office recommended trying to let it run its course without meds if possible
