Trying to Get Pregnant

Started temping today.

So, I finally went out and bought a basel therm.  I tried it out lastnight, seems pretty much the same as a regular therm.  Is there really a difference?  Anyway, my alarm went off promptly at 7am, and I reach carefully to the nightstand to grab it.  I no sooner stick it in my mouth and dh, who always sleeps through me hitting the snooze for an hour, decides to start asking me repeatedly if I was going to get up. WTF?  He never does that!  I can hit snooze for an hour and a half and he won't say a word to me.  But this morning, he figures he needs to ask me if I'm getting up 10 seconds after my alarm goes off?  I wanted to punch him.  It was dark, I could hardly function, and I'm trying to get this stupid stick to take my temp and its not working.  Finally, I pull it out of my mouth and say HANG ON! lol  So, he immediately asks me again!  UGH!  I was like, HANG ON!!  I'm trying to take my temp!  JEEZ!  So, finally it takes.

My question is this:  The instructions say don't move, don't talk, etc. before taking the temp.  So how much can I really move while I'm taking it?  Can I turn over, shift in bed?  Do I really have to not talk?  I was hoping you experienced ladies could help me with that.  I was trying to lay so still that I actually started having hot flashes and was sweating by the time I was done taking it.  Taking my temp has never been so stressfull before! lol  TIA!!

Re: Started temping today.

  • I wouldn't worry about it.  Just remind DH before bed that you are temping and to leave you alone until you are done Smile

    Yay for temping though!

  • Thanks for the advice ladies!  And GL to all of you!!
  • My DH asked me last week what the diff was between the two thermometers. There is a slight difference in a basal thermometer to a fever thermometer.  Basically basals are more accurate. A basal measures in tenths of a degree where fever thermometers measure in two-tenth degree or whole degree increments. Basals are also much faster then fever thermometers and they record the temp until you use it again so  you can chart at a later time. Welcome to charting and good luck!
  • I started on Wednesday...what an adventure!  DH works out of town during the week so I don't have any distractions when I wake up to do this.  This weekend should be interesting!
