TTC after 35

Migraine auras

Anyone get migraine auras and/or migraines? Had bad aura today but thankfully just dull headache then instead of full on migraine. Mine are triggered by hormones unfortunately which means TWW is prime time. Always scare me though when the vision changes start- hadn't had one in years so freaked me out a bit. Not fun way to spend football day.

Re: Migraine auras

  • I get them occasionally . . . but my trigger seems to be overexerting myself on too little sleep. Take care!

Migraines suck. Unfortunately, I deal with them often and refuse to take any of the preventative meds the neurologist has prescribed in the past.
Not only are they terrible for TTC, they have awful side effects for me.

I do get an aura when they are hormonal, however I typically get them secondary to neck spasms. I have a neurologic movement disorder in the Parkinson's family, so any time I get too stressed...(even if it's happy stress), I usually start with the pain.
My last one was 8 days, so I ended up at the ER on my birthday to get an IV of a "migraine cocktail".

Have you tried Benedryl or cold medicine? Sometimes that with excedrin migraine works if I catch it right away.

Have you talked with your dr about it?

  • Thanks, ladies, headache is finally going away! @thistle8677 ouch!! 8 days?!?! Yes I have seen my dr about them, had MRI and all that jazz. Had them more often when I was pregnant with my daughter and then hadn't had one (until yesterday) for over 3 yrs thankfully! Guess with being off BC hormones are triggering it again?! I wanted to pop a pain pill but refrained since in TWW. Thankfully almost gone now. Thanks for Benadryl tip!
  • I get them occasionally as well. I used to get them all the time. For days (longest was about two weeks). Until this past March, I went years without a migraine and then I got one that last forever as well. The last week, I have felt a headache, but I think it's more sinuses due to the weather. If I take a benedryl it usually goes away.
