I've only taken one round of Clomid.. 150MgX5 days and did not ovulate. RE wants to move to Femera this next month. Anyone have any thoughts on Femera? Side effects, etc? I'm a little medication anxious.
I couldn't take Clomid (lining was already thin, and I had a history of liver issues which the Clomid isn't recommended for). So I went straight to Femara, and can't compare both, but I've certainly read that a lot of people who don't respond to Clomid respond better to Femara. I did 3 cycles of Femara 5mg and TI. That didn't work for us, but I got 2-3 good follies each time. Had a surgery, then did Femara plus injectibles (Follistim) and IUI, and that worked (despite only one follie). I had no significant side effects from Femara, so I only have good things to say about it. I'd say definitely worth a try. Good luck!
I'm on my 7th cycle of femara. 6 cycles TI, 1 completed/unsuccessful IUI and another coming up. I haven't noticed any side effects and I am not one to take medicine. My DH has also stated he doesn't notice any adverse side effects and he'd tell me! GL!
Yayyy! Thanks ladies! The clomid made me emotional! Im still crying and it's been two weeks! I haven't had a period in 9 years so I think the hormones are catching up to me! we are giving Femara a try next month. Sadly, my husband (in the army) will be gone all off Nov &Dec so I'll take a short break, if it doesn't happen for us next month.
You haven't had a period in 9 years? Yikes! I used to go 6-12 months but the GYN would always require I take a round of meds to force a lining shed. You had anovulatory shedding at least right? :-S I can't imagine. Good luck with letrozol, I agree with pp, limited side effects of any.
No! From 06-07 I was pregnant. Got an IUD 6 weeks after, had it for 5 years, replaced with a new one and removed it last July to start TTC. My period never returned. I'm not sure if I ever ovulated? With the IUD they just didn't seem to worry since it can whipe your period out. I really wished I would have just done BC pills, now.
Ah! Yes, that's one of its touted 'benefits'. Got it! Sorry for the rough time after the IUD. I went completely anovulatory after OCPs so I'm not sure you would have been better off.
