Brazilian wax

How many of you ladies are planning on getting a wax before the big day? If so, at how many weeks do you get it done?
I'm 35 weeks and I honestly can't see my situation down there anymore. Even with a mirror to help me see, it's hard for me to reach down there comfortably enough to shave. I feel like I'm going to cut myself :-S

I literally just had one at 31 weeks and plan to have another at about 35 and will have to see how i go about another at 38 weeks - It was so painful eeek! I am the same and cant see down there haha.
If worse comes to worse im sure the Drs/Midwives/OBs aren't looking at your pubes

Planning on going in at 38 weeks to get one before the big day. I got one at 32 weeks to assess how painful it would be (answer: very painful, but it's only a 10-15 minute experience if you were waxing regularly before ). They will warn you that it is much more painful due to the increased blood flow

I had my first one ever at 28 weeks (can't see down there anymore!) and it was so painful I almost passed out. They had to take a break for a few mins. But the girl said its more painful the first time and also while pregnant. I just tried again at 33 weeks and it was a thousand times better. I definitely think it is all worth it and plan to go back at least one more time before labor around 37 wks.

I'm saying F it. I figure I have a lot more things to spend the money on and chances are I'm going to crap on the table anyways so a hairy baby door really isn't a top concern lol. I just use my trimmer so I'm not full on 70's porn star down there lol.

I cannot imagine having it done this late in pregnancy.....with my moods, I'd probably cry, scream and than punch the lady. Thankful my husband is taking care of my landscaping and bush trimming before labor.

I'm just gonna give 0 shits and try and clean things up myself. Whatever happens, happens. I'm sure 1) my doctor doesn't care and 2) he's probably seen worse.

In my experience, waxing was soo painful not pregnant that "increased blood flow" that makes it more sensitive might just kill me. Maybe I'm just a huge wimp but the first (and only time) I was cussing like a sailor and had to take multiple breaks to get through it. Yes it was soft and cleaned up but you can achieve similar results with a good shave. Just my opinion, I know some others swear by waxing

I just use a mirror to shave... It takes a while, but I'll do it again the night before my c-section! I'm currently 35w2d and using a mirror works just fine!

I can't see either

but honestly, I almost cried removing a bandaid from my arm the other day!!! I could NOT believe how sensitive my skin is right now. I'm planning to do my best with a mirror. My husband & I do have the kind of relationship where he's totally cool with giving me a hand if needed too. But sometimes I think that we're among the minority with that. Hahaha! Plus, any inflamed/irritated follicles down there is also pain I'm trying to avoid.

I got one done at about 28 weeks and it definitely hurt more during the wax part, but the part that really got me was that night and next day. I was so sore that I could barely walk. It was way more painful than usual, but... It was so nice not to have to worry about anything down there! Such a hassle these days! So, I plan to go back probably by week 36/37. I guess it depends on your hair growth. Plus, weighing in the chance of baby coming early/late!

I can still manage to reach down there, but worse case scenario, I'm making my husband do it for me before hand. I just got my eyebrows waxed for the first time since being pregnant (I've been scared to lol) and that hurt like a "sumbitch" so.....no thanks on the lady bits parts. Where there's a will, there's a way lol

If you get waxed regularly then it's not that painful. However, if it's your first time that's a different story. I have heard of pregnant ladies taking a small dose of Tylenol about 30 minutes prior to waxing because the increased blood flow made it more painful. I've gotten waxed every 3-4 weeks the entire pregnancy and since I'm still able to hop up on the table, I'll continue for the remainder.

Waxing really isn't that bad. If it is your first time, please do yourself and your waxer a favor and trim or have your partner trim things up. It will be much less painful if the hair isn't too long.
Also, go to a place that uses hard wax.much less painful. If you are in the U.S., European wax center is a good option. They are super fast and use hard wax. I go regularly and spend 10 minutes tops getting a Brazilian.

I never shave because on ingrown hair, electric epilator was better and easier for me, but last month I decided to shave again, by laziness, and because I dont see anything. Big mistake, ingrown hairs came back, hurt like crazy, I just ordered a set to wax at home and will try, I am hoping it wont hurt as much as my epilator (electric tweezer). Will see....
I think with mirrors and all I will manage.
Never went to a beauty salon for that area, and never went in the states, I definitely dont feel comfortable trying a new one now

will let you know if I glue my ass in the bathtub lol

You may want to keep some olive oil handy just in case then

So I'm due Nov 1 but scheduled in October so I've been watching both boards. In the Oct board, a woman just posted how her doc told her specifically not to shave or wax beforehand. Just like why we don't shave our legs before a pedicure, it opens the pores up to bacteria getting in there, possibly causing an infection. Finally, a legit excuse to be s tad lazy with it

I've just been making hubs trim it up for me. The other day I used a mirror to check his work...he had trimmed a horseshoe into it. I'm sure my OB found that entertaining...thanks DH.

If you have a c-section it doesn't matter because it's a sterile environment and they will shave you either way. Not sure about a natural but that does sound a bit excessive. I can't see shaving/waxing really causing an infection. But what do I know.

Now is good, but the original question talked about the big day so I just wanted to address that. I think the theory before then is "if you can reach, go for it!" Lol

With DS, I booked an appointment to get it done 2 weeks before my due date. By the time he was born, it was a little over 3 weeks, and I found that to be perfect! Everything was definitely healed by then, and the hair that had started to grow back was still pretty short, so cleaning up after using the washroom was a breeze compared to after my girls were born (I didn't wax or shave it with them, just trimmed with scissors, I think).

I'm planning to get a wax a couple of weeks before my EDD again this time.
