High-Risk Pregnancy

Sjogrens syndrome

Hi ladies, I just found out im pregnant. I haven't had a baby in so long, my youngest is 8 and will be 9 when baby is born. I was dx with SS about 4 years and was told I have tested pos for the ANA where there is a slight chace of heart block. At the moment I am super worried about.MC. I am 31, and excited but very nervous. I try not to think about it, but its in the back of my head. Who has gone through this? What can I expect as far as check ups go? Im afraid to even do any heavy lifting or over doing it. I'm only 4 weeks along and already have a lot of pg.symptoms im taking that as a good sign.

Re: Sjogrens syndrome

  • I'm going through this now. I was diagnosed with lupus and sjogrens when 4 months pregnant and positive for the antibodies that can cause heart block. It is a small risk and honestly the only thing you can do is get proper monitoring and educated yourself of thr possibilities and risks.

I am currently 31 weeks pregnant with our first child, a baby girl. I have sjogrens that has caused a lot of problems with my whole system including attacking my ovaries causing a diminished egg supply. I am currently going through a flare and a little worried myself but will see the dr tomorrow. With that being said... My symptoms up to this point have been better but my first few appointments were a lot of extra testing because there can be some other factors associated with autoimmune disorders such as a clotting disorder. You will most likely be considered high risk and see a dr every 2 weeks, that's what I do. I also have two other problems from the autoimmune so I will also be induced as to not risk problems by not staying pregnant longer than I and baby need. I hope this didn't make it more stressful... Our daughter has been great... Pray you have a symptom free pregnancy and very healthy baby
  • So happy to read other women going through this. I, too, have SS and am 6 weeks pregnant. I have felt slightly fearful of how that would effect me during pregnancy. At least I'm already used to the hair falling out and extreme fatigue! Lol. I decided to stop taking my plaquenil. I would rather be on no medication. What did you guys do about medications??
