I'm 16 weeks and just got my blood work back with s positive testing for Down syndrome. Does anyone know more about this? I just went back for more blood work to be done for cutlet her genetic testing and I have an early ultrasound being done next week too. I know there is a possibility for a false positive and that this test doesn't mean my baby will have Down syndrome but I'm so emotional and scared and just do t know what to think

any thoughts or words of wisdom out there?

Re: Blood panel-positive for Down syndrome
Same thing happen to my mom with me. I turned out absolutely fine (well, at least I think I did anyway...lol)
Take a few deep breaths and try telling yourself that it wasn't a diagnosis.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

I'll be keeping you in my prayers!
So keep your head up. And if your baby does end up having down syndrome, I'm sure he or she will be beautiful anyways
With this pregnancy, we did have the Materniti21 screening done. I can't imagine what you might be feeling right now since I've not been through it, but if you have any questions about Down Syndrome, please reach out.
I've actually thought about this with my last when his ultrasound had a soft marker for DS and the parental challenges of a baby with DS don't scare me but the physical side effects (heart defects, sight/vision problems, etc).
Also how'd y'all stay sane waiting for tests and test results?!?
I guess I'm positive because the odds are on our side and if they're not we know some really wonderful kids with Down syndrome. There are way more scary genetic conditions out there!
Our results with our second baby came back as inconclusive....I wasn't sure how to feel about it but I decided not to do the tests again. We just decided that either way it's still our baby and no matter what we would find a way to make life work!
I hope it all works out for you and your family!! There is always a positive to every negative...keep your head up!! Prayers sent your way!
