How long can pre labour last?!

Ftm here. I've been cramping on an off for 6 days but today the cramping has been pretty intense and non stop. I timed them and they were 4 mins apart but then just quit. Now I get about 1-2 an hour. I'm 38 weeks 3 days. 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Baby's head is engaged and I've been having diarrhea all day today.
Just wondering how long this can last?!

I have been that way for 3 weeks now. So frustrating.

After talking with my OB, it can last days to weeks, and there isn't an easy way to predict. I mentally plan on it lasting weeks until the pain is unbearable or my water breaks. Good luck mama!
