What's your go-to exercise?

What, if anything, are you all going to be doing to keep you and baby fit and healthy?

With DD, I was a running maniac. I was pretty good about staying active from about 13 weeks (when my MS finally ended) through my third trimester. This time around I'm planning to do one barre-type workout a day using an online subscription. Since they range from 10 minutes to an hour, I can be a little flexible about how I'm feeling on a day to day basis.

Re: What's your go-to exercise?

  • I'm starting with taking daily walks. I'm slim but I never work out so I need to start slow. Then I'm gonna do yoga and some piyo when I start feeling a little better. I have to keep it super low impact because I have bad back.

  • *embarrassed* I don't do a whole lot of working out. I'm a first grade teacher and I don't sit down from 7:30am-3:00pm so that has to count for something right?? I DO, however, take early evening walks almost daily with DS.

@adiaz132003 I'm also really favoring the low-impact options this time around.
@VikingGirl12 Definitely counts!  First graders are crazy!!!
  • I'm a gym rat and in love with Pilates! I am talking to my teacher Thursday to ask about modifications!

  • I am a runner. I ran through about 26 weeks with ds1. I hope to make it into 30+ with this one. I have a 10 miler next weekend!

  • I do a ton of walking as a teacher too. Plus, I try and take a 45 minute walk outside 4 times a week. Last pregnancy I had to add in Pilates to stretch my sciatic nerve. And, when the sciatic nerve pain got to be to intense I went to swimming laps. Towards like 39/40 weeks, I was walking like 6 miles a day trying to get that baby out. Didn't work though, ended up with a c-section!

  • I've been doing crossfit (weight lifting and metabolic conditioning) for about 8 months now, and plan to continue with modifications as needed!
  • I've been doing zumba and will continue to do that. I also walk outside and as the weather changes will walk on the treadmill at the gym. This is my first pregnancy and i'm hoping to keep some type of activity as long as possible.

  • With DS, I was taking barre classes until I was 38 weeks pregnant.  That was also the last time I went.  Now my exercise is chasing DS.
  • We're hikers so as long as I'm able, I'll strap on the pack and make a day of it. The H was giving me a hard time yesterday for doing a 10k hike so I suspect my doc will have to calm him down ;)

  • I go on the elliptical 3 times a week. I am going to really try and keep up with the exercise this pregnancy. I was so sick with my last pregnancy that I slacked in the exercise department and gained a lot of weight.

  • Chasing my 19 month old counts as exercise right?!?!?!?!

  • I take Zumba about three times a week, and I plan to add a day of walking (maybe 5 miles).  This is my first; so, I hope I'm still able to do a little booty shaking in Zumba without any restrictions.
  • I'm big into running. I'm weird. I do Ultrarunning, which is any distance further than a marathon. Obviously I'll scale that way back. Today I'm going to run and then swim a bit. My last two pregnancies I was lazy but this time I vow not to be.
  • I'm not great about exercising. I do teach second grade, so that keeps me moving and on my feet during the day.  I am trying to walk at least 15 minutes a day, although I've been so tired after work, that been difficult.
  • Does getting a 2 year old dressed count? Other than that we take walks. I really need to keep active this pregnancy, I think it helps so much with energy level.
  • I had been on a pretty good roll with yoga until a few weeks ago. I'm determined to be more fit this pregnancy though. I didn't exercise during my first pregnancy, gained 55 pounds (oops), and pulled a stomach muscle, which caused early contractions at 31 weeks and a visit to L&D on Valentine's Day. Let me tell you how romantic that was... Time to start up my yoga practice again!

  • I'm a jogger, and I hope to get out there a bit to keep the weight gain at a reasonable number. Let's keep each other motivated!

  • Orange theory. Running. Weights. Lots of hiking. I stayed fairly active the first time around but would like to do better towards the end of pregnancy this time. And not eat everything in sight.
