No show?

I am 38+6 with my first baby. I know I am being impatient but I don't feel like I'm even close to giving birth!! I haven't had Braxton Hicks, no change in discharge (the show) I've had the slightest of cramps on a night. Baby not engaged at 38 week midwife appointment. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm just getting fed up because I feel huge and heavy :(

Re: No show?

  • Second time mom. Baby doesn't appear to be engaged either. I have had some cramping but nothing to painful I'm 38 weeks and feel pretty good considering how pregnant I am most the time, but baby doesn't appear to be coming ANYTIME soon either lol

  • Totally normal. I never had a Braxton hicks or anything with my first. I checked in at 41.5 w still at 0% and 0 cm. Had a successful induction and vaginal delivery. I know it feels like an eternity, but they can't stay in forever and WILL be out eventually! I'm not 38+6 as well with my second and while I've had some contractions, it doesn't feel like this little guy is coming any time soon either. Hang in there, mama!

  • I felt the same with my first and he ended up coming 2 days early. Hang in there!
  • I am almost 37 wks and in the same boat! I feel good and do not have any symptoms yet! The baby feels transverse to me and defiantly not engaged.
  • You'll be surprised how fast you can go from nothing to being in labor, hang in there.

  • My SIL went from nothing to having her first baby within 6 hours.
Be patient. I know it's easier said than done, but you won't be pregnant forever.
I don't think my baby wants to leave, either. We've got a week until EDD and three weeks until this baby is getting the for sure eviction notice.
  • :) thank you everyone, glad it's not just me! Suppose she can come at any time and I should be enjoying the quiet time!!
  • What does "engaged" mean? Just head down, or is there more to it?
  • OP.... im a STM and with my first DS i went to 41 weeks i lost my plug at night and went to l&d contractions started and had him the next morning ...so sometimes it will all happen all together or you can lose your plug 2 weeks before and start contractions down the line...most FTM will not deliver before 40 weeks, try to hang in there !

@VioletandRose  engaged means that the babys head is engaged in the pelvis not just head down, you will know when l.o has engaged because you will feel less pressure on your chest and less heartburn too and it will shift to your pelvis /bladder !
