No beta scheduled after 2ww...should I schedule or just do home preg test?

Hi guys,
Just finished TI after triggering on Sunday. Been looking through the forums and realized most ppl seem to have a beta scheduled with their RE after the 2ww. Is this something I should do or because I did the TI and not the iui do they not schedule it? Not sure if my RE is expecting me to just test myself or wait for AF to come and if it does I'll go back? Please let me know your thoughts and when I should test if so.

My RE only has me test at home 15 or 16 days past trigger. If it's positive, they do a blood test. If it's negative, I'll stop taking my progesterone. Since seeing everyone with betas scheduled, I too question it. But, I guess if it doesn't show up on FRER on 14 dpo it's probably not the best sign anyway. Pretty sure I'm in the minority, but I also only do TI. I'm not sure if an IUI would change things with my RE.

My RE does the same the same thing. And I'm on my 2nd iui. I go in for progesterone 1 wk and take a hpt 2wks after the procedure. On ti it was based on when I triggered

Thanks ladies, glad to know it's not just my RE who does that. I guess I'm okay then. I'll wait and do the home test at 15dpt (seems so far away!) and hope for the best.

My RE has you home test 18 days post trigger (reallyyyy long lol) then go for beta if need be, but for both of my IUIs I've gotten AF right on time 14 days post trigger

I had an IUI and my RE has me start self testing on HPT 14dpo and continue until it turns positive or I get my period, whichever comes first. I hate the waiting and would love to know conclusively, but if I did get too many negative HPTs and did not start my period, I know I could call in and they would schedule me for bloodwork. FX to you!

I've never had a progesterone test post-O before either. My doctor just puts me on progesterone immediately after O. If you aren't told to take or prescribed progesterone (prometrium), I would definitely ask for a test to ensure your progesterone levels are adequate.

It's an indicator to confirm you did indeed ovulate, but it can't tell you when. It's also the hormone that helps to nourish and sustain your lining so the embryo can implant and you can maintain pregnancy until the placenta takes over. I actually have never had the progesterone test done. It's usually done 7 days after the expected date of ovulation. If you take the trigger shot, it is unnecessary to confirm O as you will O with the shot. If they never tested your levels before and you aren't on progesterone, there is really no way to be positive your progesterone level is in the correct range. That would be more of the concern for you considering the treatment you describe in your initial post. If you've never had premenstrual spotting and if your LP has always been at least 14 days, your progesterone level is likely fine but it certainly wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. If you are still within 7 days of the trigger (sounds like you are), you could always call and see if they could schedule one for you. Good luck to you!

I guess I was tested for Progesterone before my trigger shot and results are attached. Is this why I wasn't put on a schedule to test again after I o'd?

My RE tests my progesterone level on day 21 every monitored month.

Thanks @misshopeful1. So I'm assuming I'm okay if I don't take the prometrium like some people do as I ovulate automatically after the trigger shot? I contacted my RE to ask about why I wasn't taking the prometrium or scheduled for a beta, but thinking maybe they just do it differently at my RE's office.

Hi @vtbride822. Like you, I wasn't given prometrium after the IUI. However, I started spotting, so he put me on it today (11dpo). He said a little progesterone never hurt anyone..I think he was saying that to make me feel better. I think my RE is the type to not overload with a bunch of medications and try to alter one variable at a time. I didn't have a trigger shot either. Just be aware that if you do spot, be sure to call and see if prometrium is an option. I'm guessing you're a Hokie.. am I right?
