Re: Anyone want to share nursery photos?

  • @ashs88 I'm not sure if this store is only in Canada but I saw some cute coral baby stuff at Bouclair?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @Vamason89 Where did you get the alphabet? Did you make it or buy it? It's super cute!!!

@l4rk are those decals or did you paint all that? It looks awesome!

@missperky I would have never thought to put the crib on an angle in a corner! Looks cool like that!

Everyone's looks great so far! DH just painted the walls and trim and has to paint the ceiling this weekend, then we'll start to put up the crib. We kept the wall color the same, but it needed touch ups, so we just did one coat. It's a cream color. We are doing a fish and sea creature theme. I'll post pics once we get further along!

@PreggoInTheCity it's from an Etsy store called ANewDae. She customized it for me too!

  • @ashs88 I have found some coral things at Target. I got a changing pad cover from Amazon. There's a coral sheet I'm going to get from there too. I'm getting a rug from CafePress.com :)
  • Everyone's looks so great!!

We just finished painting and putting in new carpet a few weekends ago. All we have is our crib and rocker (that my mom used on both me and my sister when we were babies). Can't wait for it to all come together!!
  • Got done painting so far that's about it. I do have a crib and some other furniture just not put together yet
  • We're no where near done yet. Got the room painted ( gray) and got a new area rug. I just can't decide if I want to do white furniture or darker wooden furniture. It's a girl but I just love the darker wood just fear it's not girly at all.
  • Absolutely loving seeing all these pucs and reading all the ideas! Thanks for sharing ladies!! :)

I feel ya... We ended up just going for the dark wood and we're so happy we did. The details will make it look feminine and bring it all together :)
  • @smcooper29 love the wood wall! We wanted to do one as well but are back and forth between buying lumber or buying a wood paneling (like stikwood) that has a rustic feel. Mind sharing which route you went?
  • I'm in the same boat with my hubby and procrastinating!! I have a little longer to go but Eight now the baby room is storage !

Oh wow, these are all so great!  I have to get my butt in gear.  Btw, does anyone have a resource for where to find cute baby/kid rugs at a reasonable price?  More specifically, a dragon rug??  (We're doing a Land of Make Believe type theme.)   I saw some adorable ones at Land of Nod but they were like $100-250!!!

Don't fret about it not being girly enough! By the time you get everything in there that is pink that other people have bought her, it'll be plenty of girly. (Also, dark wood is classic and beautiful!)

Im 25 weeks now and starting to feel very disorganised! I have purchased a change table (which is on the porch still waiting for me to sand it back and re strain it!), and when my hubby and I go on holiday next week, to spend a few weeks with the family, we will pick up a lot of hand me downs from my sister and purchase most of our big ticket items that we still need. My family live near the city, whereas if we wanted to buy anything for baby -high chair, baby seat etc- we would need to travel 600kms to the nearest city. Im starting to think of my nursery colour scheme (if I am even that organised!) and how I want to decorate it. Im thinking Id love to incorporate some Christian/scripture somewhere (artwork, or maybe something noahs ark like a music box?) and also tossing up something country, being from a farming background. Would love a cattle hide on the floor, but that sounds way to impractical and expensive! I would like something though to cover up most of the old, crusty orange carpet in the babies room (dont own the house we're living in!). I was wondering for those of you who have finished, or even done some of your nursery, would like to share some ohotos of it for a bit of inspiration? I would love to see some real nurserys, rather than the expensive, impractical ones in magazines!
What type of carpet do you have? Is it low-pile, or really dense? As long as it's not a shag, you probably can get away with doing carpet tiles over the existing carpet. The great thing is that you can change the pattern just by rotating the pieces, and even though it's a little pricier than wall to wall, you can take it with you when you move! (Or replace one square when there is a spill, instead of the whole thing.)
  • 24 weeks today .. Not close to being finished, but more so than I thought I'd be at this point!
Still waiting on the rocking chair & changing table to come in.. Need to hang up her curtains .. Also need to get her mattress.. & im waiting on the bedding to come in!! I have tons of wall decor but I want to wait until all the furniture is set up before putting anything on the walls!!! Be back in a few months with a finished picture ;)

Ps my son was sitting on that brown chair and that will not be going on there lol!

@tgrdance05 is that gold hearts?! & is it wallpaper? lol I've been trying to find something so similar .. We are taking her closet doors down and I wanted to make the inside of the closet different than the paint on the walls!

I want to paint light coral walls with a striped accent wall (think I'm going with lightest shade on the right side with the stripe being the next shade darker on right side. Left side colors were too pinky). Using dark wood furniture that was used with my previous 2 boys. Don't really want a theme too much. My mom is making my curtains and crib skirt. Accent color with coral will be turquoise. Using rocker from my boys but ordering new cushions in cream. Here are my paint samples, curtain fabric and crib skirt fabric. Also included that pattern picture for curtain.
  • 24 weeks and haven't started anything yet :D . We did order our furniture but it won't be in until end of December, it was backordered :((
  • @fberg12 extremely EASY with the yellow frog tape! It took maybe 10 minutes to tape it off and I read a super easy tutorial on Pinterest that helped a ton!!

$100 to $250 IS a reasonable price for a 5x8 rug, especially something so specific.
  • We close on our house on the 23rd so after that I'll be able to think about nursery instead of packing boxes. LO will be sharing with DD so we have to stick with pink and purple as those are the colors of everything DD owns.

@Mamabeagle - Wow, okay.  Then we will probably skip it!  Just looking for something small and decorative.  (The room is already carpeted.)  Maybe we'll do something else with a dragon instead, like a print or a stuffed animal.
  • @cazza22 I love that simple changing table. Would you share where you found it?
  • Wow, now I feel really far behind. I've started to repaint the dresser from our guest room, and have the wall color picked out, but my mom has admonished me not to buy anything. I'd love to get the big things like crib and glider chair, but every time I mention buying them, my mom tells me not to. I know she is planning a shower, but I wish she would give me a bit more of a time line. My MIL did buy us a super cute fat cow lamp that will be perfect for our vintage farm theme tho.
  • All of our nursery ideas are still in my head. We're going to start painting this weekend but, we don't have anything else yet! Crib has been ordered but won't be in for another three weeks! Can't wait to get it finished!!

  • @kimberlyain love your idea. This was exactly what I had in mind. Grey and yellow/elephant and travel theme! Where did you get the world landmark pictures?

That's likely your best bet, you will have more options at places like home goods for a more neutral rug than for a specialized one.

Here is our little boy's nursery so far. We are doing a hockey theme because my husband is a huge fan. Still looking for some decor for the walls!
  • This is as far as we've gotten!
  • @lrayas they are actually cut out from a desk calendar from Rifle Paper company. The calendar was like 20 bucks but they have larger individual prints for $40.
  • Here is our accent wall. We are doing a grey and navy elephant theme for our twins :) we have the dresser set up, and a changing table. The cribs are still in the garage.
  • @happyandhopeful3 you're off to a great start! Would you mind sharing your paint color? I think it's a great neutral!
  • @bmmims it just from IKEA, I saw it on line and was worried it wouldn't be sturdy but when I went to the store it was so sturdy, complete bargain x
