Severe pregnancy congestion

Hi im 19 weeks pregnant... I started having a really bard time breathing through my nose at 13 weeks.... My doctor diagnosed me with rhinitis its has only gotten worse.... At 16 weeks he told me to try Sudafed and claritan d..I was nervous but miserable since I wanted to get off the nasal spray my nose was getting so soar... Now 19 weeks and went to the doctor 2 days ago he told me he's treating it as a sinus infection gave me antibiotics.... Im so miserable haven't been able to eat or sleep since I can barely breathe left my job because of it....I have no energy to do anything since it takes so much out of me to breathe through my nose..... 21 weeks to go and this isn't go away....30% of pregnant women get this congestion but nobody i know has ever heard of it..... I need idea's on what else to do to help me breathe...
I have nettie pot, humidifier, vicks, saline and afren nasal sprays, and some other remedies nothing helps

What you listed is really all you can do. I had it throughout both my pregnancies. The day I delivered, I felt better. I was doing my sinus rinse 4-5 times per day.

It sucks.

I had it miserably through the first tri and continuing up to now and it really REALLY sucks but unfortunately there is nothing you can really do. Shower steam worked well for me but it was very temporary, but it would allow me to get to sleep if I was really struggling. I've also found that being active helps, going for a walk seems to clear it up, but again only for a short time before it comes back. I doubt the antibiotics will help since you don't have an infection, it's inflammation in the nasal passages because of swelling (the same thing that makes your ankles swell later on). Sorry mama, it'll all be worth it when we get our precious LOs!

Nope you're not alone, its truly the worst and I felt the same way like it was the weirdest symptom and NO ONE else must be feeling it. Even now it's better now but not all gone.

I went to an ent doctor today mine was to the point of horrible nasal swelling i couldn't even get my neti pot to drain through my nose

now im on steroids and 2 nasal sprays it's so miserable i been in panick mode all day not being able to breathe and still can't.... It really sucks theres nothing they can do for instant relief

I don't mean to hijack but could this be the reason for my constant sneezing? I feel like I'm always fighting a cold.

I have it too. This is my fourth child and i never had it before. But all day sneezing and blowing my nose. I cant wait until it goes away

Me too. Been so nasal and congested since Friday night. Not sure if it's a cold or not. Nettie pot not working. Have found the breath rite strips are a lifesaver though.

Yes it could be the reason make an appointment with an ent (ear nose and throat) specialist i had to take steriods and some new nasal sprays....but a week later im a 100% better dont use afrin made it alot worst for me! But its rhinitis allergies which come when you pregnant

I've had bad congestion and sinus swelling for probably 6 weeks. Unfortunately nothing really helps that much. Hot lemon & honey tea gives me a little relief and eucalyptus oil helps a bit.

Yeah I've been using nose spray constantly now, I hate it. It temporarily helps, but odd thing about nose spray is the more you use it, the more you have to use it. I sneeze a billion times a day and have a runny nose constantly. I've been seeing blood on the tissue the past few days, but so far no nosebleeds. My pregnancy app mentioned this is a symptom, congestion and nosebleeds, due to the increased blood flow in our bodies. I'm a FTM and I feel so incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to experience just about every single pregnancy symptom out there! *sarcasm*

Make an appointment with a ears nose throat doctor....i was the same i used afrin and couldn't stop or i couldn't breathe and had panic attacks.... Gave me steriods and 2 better nasal sprays now i feel normal and can enjoy my pregnancy!
