Trying to Get Pregnant

Intro - TTC #1

Hi ladies.  I've been lurking on there for awhile now myself and I've found a lot of your posts and discussions really helpful.  My husband and I have been married for almost a year (Oct. 2014).  I'm 32 and my husband is 39.  We waited a while before starting to TTC.  Our official start month was August of this year.  We've been following the app on my phone to track my periods and "expected ovulation" date.  I do get ovulation pain (and nausea some months) and EWCM so I'm pretty sure I know when I ovulate, but I now know that I could be totally off!.  AF is supposedly due today (I'm pretty regular, 29-30 day cycles) and my mind has been nuts with the waiting, symptoms (or not).  I bought a First Response digital ovulation kit on Friday because I swore AF was coming!  I'm pretty sure it still is but we'll see.  I know our journey has just begun so I'm not complaining at all that we are in month #2...headed to month #3, just looking join in your discussions during the TWWs.
Good luck to all those that are TTC :)

Re: Intro - TTC #1

  • Welcome.

I would recommend temping to confirm ovulation.  I use to judge my O date by my cm and what my app thought it might be, and I noticed only through temping that it was actually several days off.

    Good luck!

  • Welcome!

Ditto what PP said about temping. If you search, there's a thread called "why I love charting" (I think - maybe "why I love temping"). It definitely helps give you more information and takes a little bit of the stress off, because at least you know exactly when to expect AF. Also, the newbies guide thread pinned toward the top has lots of great tips.

    Good luck!

  • Welcome welcome!  I will third (if that's a thing) the suggestion for temping.  It sounds weird but it really eases my mind knowing that I am doing as much as I can to monitor what my body is doing.
  • Hi - I agree temping is very helpful. I am going on month 2 of TTC and month 4 of tracking after BC. I use the app Clue to track everything and based on my cycle I was expected to ovulate around day 16-17, but using a combo of temping and ovulation tests I found I actually ovulate early, day 12-13.

    Good Luck
  • Welcome and good luck! We are ttc buddies, I'm just on my third month now!

  • Thanks guys!!  I appreciate all of your suggestions on temping :)  It's day 30 today and no AF...but I do feel horrible...tired, nausea, and I felt faint on my way to work this morning.  Some cramping also this morning.  It could be AF coming but who knows!  I am going to give temping a try next month and see how it goes...if AF does show up this week...
Good luck to you all and thank you again!
