16 weeks and still getting occasional morning sickness

Is this happening to anyone else? Anything I should do differently to reduce it?

Re: 16 weeks and still getting occasional morning sickness

  • I'm roughly 15.5 into it and I still get it. Nothing I can do other than avoid the triggers to lessen the episodes. I have gotten fairly good at knowing what can cause it (like anything sweet on an empty stomach). It helps that I have food aversions and those are the things that are likely to make me sick.

  • Mine has increased dramatically again for the past few days. I can't pinpoint anything that's triggering it. I know what my stomach can handle and what it can't . . . beyond that it's just a waiting game! Morning sickness usually really ends for me around 19-20 weeks.
    It's a boy! Born 42 weeks, 2 days.

  • My mom had MS with all three of her kids until the day they were born :/ I just rolled into my 15th week and am not feeling better yet either. I just think we have to suck it up honestly.
  • Sorry you are still feeling horrible. With each of my pregnancies I have been sick 1-2 weeks longer than the previous, the last time I felt better at 15 weeks and I'm not 15.5 and still feeling a little crappy.  Definitely better, or at least more energy, but still not where I'd like to be.
For me, brushing my teeth after each meal helps avoid the weird after taste and makes me feel less nauseous.

  • Unfortunately mine lasted most of my last pregnancy but consistent episodes until 18-19 weeks.
  • Tomorrow I will be16w and can't believe I still have it.. Everyday between 19:00-23:00 really strange.. Lemon is my best solution so far. Even thoothpaste makes me feel sick :/
  • I'm a little over 16 weeks and still dealing with ms. Last week during me dry heaving my nose started bleeding (yay!). Then, last night at 4am I got up to pee and immediately had to flush, turn around and throw up. I remember thinking well, I just got today's ms out of the way, nope! Threw up again when I woke up at 7:30. I'm really over it, but at least it's not an all day event..
  • This pregnancy is significantly better then my last one (my son is almost 8) I'm still having MS, but it seems to be tapering off.. I've been taking diclegis since week 8, it has helped dramatically. With my son I was sick till my 7th month.. Crossing my fingers this pregnancy will be different!
  • I'm at 14w and I get sick almost every morning and many evenings still... I'm on diclegis and hoping I am almost done- this is my first!
  • Grrrr...I'm seriously considering asking my doctor about medication. I know I should be drinking a lot more water than I currently am but I can't stomach more than a few sips at a time. Sugary juice, lemonade, milk, etc. are all fine but something about water doesn't sit well with me (watered down gatorade, lemon water, iced water don't work either). Which is so odd for me since I used to drink at least a gallon of water before. To make matters worse, my other trigger seems to be proteins. I've tried chicken in a million ways, cheeses, nuts, etc. and I can only handle a few bites at a time before the nausea strikes. I partially feel like I'm over reacting and should just deal with it since I am able to keep both down in small portions. It's just so frustrating to nibble and sip all day for fear of nausea and I fear I'm still not drinking enough water.

  • Definitely not still alone, I just keep reminding myself that it might not go away but that its ok. I'm asking an awful lot from my body right now and if it needs to feel nauseated then I just have to power through.
  • With DD I was about 39 weeks pregnant when I stopped getting "morning sickness".

Did I mention I had DD at 39 weeks? :)

Hopefully it passes for you soon but it's definitely possible to keep having it for the duration of pregnancy or at least well after first trimester. Unfortunately it doesn't always just stop at 12 weeks. Hang in there and talk to your OB about the many medications that can help if it's not getting better.
  • My second child I was sick all the way to end. I tried eating crackers in bed when first woke up and layed still awhile. I ate may 4-6 small meals a day. Get lots of water.
