Turning baby ?!?

Has anyone ever had to have had their baby manually turned in the womb?

Im 36w2d pregnant and transverse breech. My ob says i have almost no chance of her flipping on her own since she is already measuring 7lb 4ounces. So she wants me to have a c-section unless she can successfully turn the baby.
She said in my case of breech, turning is very successful but it is very uncomfortable and painful, and can end up in an emergency csection if the baby does not handle it well.

Anyone ever had this done?

I really don't want a csection, but I'm nervous to let her try and turn her if it is going to harm her.

    I went in for my doctor to attempt an external version and it was the worst experience of my entire pregnancy. It was painful and they weren't successful in flipping DS1, which my doctor attributed to his size. I subsequently went on to have a c-section closer to my due date an found the c-section recovery to be a more pleasant experience than the version....

    DS2 is currently breech. I have already made it clear to my doctor that under no circumstances will I allow them to try another external version. If he doesn't flip, I will simply go in for another c-section.

    On the flip side, a girlfriend of mine went in for the procedure and they flipped her baby in less than 5 minutes and she didn't complain of any discomfort during the procedure. To be fair, her baby was 2+ lbs smaller than mine and she is taller than I am (more room?).

    I suggest you read the risks and benefits of attempting the procedure and decide what's best for you and baby. Oh, and stay away from YouTube...I watched multiple videos trying to get an idea of what to expect and they were deceiving.

    Ahh thanks I just watched a ton of YouTube videos and the moms are so calm and peaceful, I figured that was a lie when my doctor said sometones they give an epidural for the pain.

    The csection scares me crazy but I would rather have one than lose my baby.

    I think im gonna plan a csection and if she flips before then I'll be a happy camper.

    I had an external version at 37 weeks.  Little man is frank breech so the OB was not very optimistic that he would turn as it' the hardest kind of breech to turn.  Unfortunately they were unable to turn him.  I now have a c-section scheduled for this Saturday.  The procedure itself was not that bad, only lasted 10-15 but lots of prep stuff before hand.  It did was not super uncomfortable and I don't regret as I know I tried everything I could to try and get baby to flip.  DS1 was a totally natural birth so I am very dissapointed that I am having a c-section this time around I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he flips on his own in the next four days!

    This may be no help at all and sorry if it isnt but at a birthing class I attended last week I was told to lean over the bed or coffee table once a day for 30 mins from about 30 weeks as that somehow moves the baby into the correct position for a vaginal birth. I have not tried this as I need a C/S due to medical complications.

    We found out that DS was frank breech at an elective ultrasound around 33 weeks, so I had some time to research external versions. After finding out the relatively low success rate combined with watching videos on youtube, we made the call to go with a c section. They don't just place epidurals because it can be uncomfortable procedure for the mom; it's also a precaution in case you water breaks while trying to flip the baby or if the baby starts showing signs of distress, they are ready to do an immediate c section.

    DD1 was turned twice right before delivery and flipped back so they gave up. She was sunny side up so not as bad as breech but it was still very uncomfortable. I would strongly suggest having the epidural before they try to flip, if you have to have a CS you will get one anyway. I can't imagine how bad it would hurt without meds.

    Have you tried to go to a chriopractor? Sometimes they can get the baby to flip. I am not sure if the exact method, but you need one that specializes in this practice. I have heard wonderful things about it. A few friends have had it done, and their babies turned with in 24 hours and it was completely unpainful for them.

    Webster technique is what it's called, I had that done too and it worked until delivery, then she flipped back to sunny side up. You are right, not painful at all but you need time for it to work so if you're going to try it, start now.

    I've been researching this out of paranoia and the go to solutions seem to be chiropractor and spinning babies.

    I went to a chiropractor last week for the first time for this exact reason. Baby moved head down after just one visit even though she said it might take 8-12 sessions. My body felt amazing afterwards so definitely worth a shot.

    I'm also seeing a chiropractor to help get baby to move. This is baby #4 and our last and I am trying like crazy to avoid a c-section.
