Not rolling over-help

Help! LO is 5 and a half months and has zeto interest in rolling over. She spends a lot of time in her tummy, even if it makes her angry. She can roll from her side to her tummy or to her back, but not from back to front or from front to back... And now she decided that tummy time means screanimg into the ground... I'm getting worried... I've been playing wih her on the ground and showing her how but she is just not interested. I've tried to put objects on top to the side so she's forced to turn but she just uses her head and turns back around like she doesn't care... Please help me!

Re: Not rolling over-help

  • Mine has rolled each direction once. He also frequently rolls onto his sides & no further.

My middle daughter didn't roll over until she was 6.5 months. It really bothered me because my oldest rolled at 6 weeks. My middle daughter went on to walk right at a year. She now is 3 and has participated in gymnastics and most recently cheerleading.

The way I look at it is I don't have to worry about tummy sleeping. My DS can sit for a little without help, so he is hitting other milestones.

I wouldn't sweat it unless you've noticed poor muscle tone, other developmental delays, or your pediatrician is concerned. You could probably get a PT referral if you feel deep down that something is wrong.
  • Loading the player...
  • We started tummy time with her arms underneath her. Kind of like if you were laying on your stomach and propped up to read something. That way baby can feel in control and not stuck. Or you can put a stuffed animal under babies chest to help them with tummy time. My daughter would just tilt her head, and from the heaviness of her head she would roll haha. We're still working on back to belly though!
