.. How soon do you plan on doing it? Our church does them once a month and I am hoping for Nov but Im not sure if I should push it out until December. Just curious of what others are doing
We are having our baby Oct 1 (repeat Csection). We haven't chosen sponsors yet but we will likely do it in November. I personally don't want to wait too long before doing it
I know our church likes to have them baptized within a month or two, but I see a lot of people holding off until 5 or so months, which I don't really want to do. Of course I don't know when she's going to make her appearance. But I'm hoping I can do it in November if she gets here semi-soon, before the holidays and the weather gets crazy!
We are doing it in November the weekend before Thanksgiving. My EDD is Oct. 23 so baby will likely be very small. We live very far from family and my brother and sister-in-law (the godparents) are making a special trip out for Thanksgiving. We will have the ceremony while they are here as long as baby and I are both recovering well.
Our church doesn't do infant baptism. That's something our child will have to decide on their own. But we are doing a baby dedication shortly after we return! Anyone doing one of those?
We do it around 3 months in my family. Once things are a little more settled and baby is a little more predictable... And mom is a little more comfortable with the little one in big crowds

My parents church does baptism that way too. I grew up Episcopal and was surprised that my mom still favors infant baptism. I understand both ways and technical we could wait as there is no age limit to baptism in the Episcopal faith.

We are thinking about waiting until the new year. My family has expressed interest in coming to the baptism so we might wait until a 3 day weekend like President's Day weekend so they can have time to fly in.
We don't do infant baptism either, but give the baby an official name and a blessing. They do them once a month on the first Sunday of the month. I can't stay away from church long because I am in charge of the entire children's organization, but we will likely miss November's date since I am due Oct 22. So, the first Sunday in December, I suppose. My mom made the most gorgeous dress for baby.
I am due Oct. 27 and a few months ago my pastor of 16+ years announced his retirement so we are having our baptism on his last day - Nov. 22. It's early but I really wanted our pastor to perform it. We're Presbyterian and do baptisms as babies and Confirmation around 8th grade.
We are planning to do a private ceremony (just DH, baby, pastor or person of that sort, and me). I have no idea when, that ball is in my husband's court since he wants the baptism. But to answer your question, around here it seems that it depends on religious sect. Some people do them early, but most seem to do them in the 5-6 month range, which always seemed strange to me because I thought it was supposed to happen as soon as possible.
I thought it was supposed to happen as soon as possible too. I'm hoping she gets here soon so we can make the November weekend I really want to get it planned so I can let people know the date (just our immediate fam) but the church won't do anything until the baby is here, which I totally understand. I'm lucky my mom kept everything from when I was little so our girl will be wearing my baptismal gown
We had planned on waiting about 3 months, barring bad weather or illness, so that would be after the new year. We want to wait until he's had his shots and we've had a chance to learn each other a bit. Also don't plan on traveling until around then. Our church is small and lax, usually leaving it up to the parents regarding when/if they would feel comfortable baptizing the child.
My church doesn't do infant baptisms either, but they do dedications. We will probably wait until the Christmas season when family will be available to be there.

I don't believe in infant baptism (it's not Biblical. Baptism is something an individual makes a personal choice to do after accepting Christ), but we will probably do a dedication, which is us publicly committing to raise our child in a Godly way.
I'm catholic and with my family, we are more old school in our thinking. Traditionally we don't even show the baby to anyone outside of immediate family until he's been baptized. So, we'll be doing it about a month after birth.
our church does it once a month on Saturday's but each quarter they do a big one during Sunday mass. We opted out of October since LO was due 10/1 and decided to skip November and go with December which will be during Sunday Mass. I am currently having my wedding gown made into a christening gown for LO so I decided to make it a big/special experience rather than a quick Saturday afternoon thing.
Our little one came early on Sept. 18th, so we are having her baptized this Sunday, 10/4. Our church only does them on the first and last Sunday of the month. My brother and sister-in-law are going to be the God parents, and they live 8 hours away. They are visiting all of next week, so it worked out so they won't have to make a short trip.
Won't it vary substantially based on what your tradition believes baptism is/does?
We're Catholic (= old-school, done-it-this-way-since-the-second-century, "unless a man be born of water and the spirit," etc.), so our answer as paranoid first-time parents is: ASAP, bring water to L&D, etc.
However, if she seems healthy, we will hold out until her godparents can get down from Canada in late November. And I'll just haul around a water bottle in the meantime (jk, kinda.)

DS2: EDD- 09.08.17
