2 mo. vacc's- the fussy struggle is real

My twin boys got their 2 mo shots today and WOW the crankiness. They have not wanted to eat much and only wanted to lay on their momma which frustrated DH who was trying to help. I ended up wrapping one in the moby and laying the other one on the side of him on my chest and laying in bed watching TV for two hours. I felt pregnant again haha. I have one who is super dramatic and he screamed for 20 minutes or so before we finally got some Tylenol in him and he calmed down and went to sleep. Anyone else having breakdowns from shots this week? The poor things, they were so good at the doctor's and they just fell apart when we got home. :(

  • Yikes. My twin girls are due to get their shots in 2 weeks. I'll need to make sure we have Tylenol on-hand. Wondering how long they'll be upset. Good idea with cozying up in bed, that might just be our whole weekend.

  • @twoifbysea the hard core fussing ended around 10, so 12 hours after their appt. it was just one who was extremely fussy, the other one wasn't as bad but their little legs got a little puffy at the injection sites. Def have some Tylenol and remember to ask what their dose should be. The box only gives instructions after 24lbs and I had to make a panicked call to the dr before they closed to get the dosage :)
And expect their schedule to be totally screwed up for a couple days. I bet your girls are easier!! (We all know boys are more dramatic right? Hehe)
  • I gave little one some Tylenol before his shots, he's about 11lbs I have him 1.25ml
  • My little guy got his 2 month shots last Friday. Naturally, he screamed when he got them, but he really seemed to do fine thereafter. He didn't act as if his legs were sore the next few days. He was a little more fussy during that night and I did give him Tylenol, but all in all it went well. He was 11lb, 10 oz that day and the Dr recommended 2ml of Tylenol.
  • Tylenol (acetaminophen) dosage chart from dr.

    6-11 lb 1.25 mL
    12-17 lb 2.5 mL
    18-23 lb 3.75 mL
    24-25 lb 5 mL

We always give the dose before the shots.
  • I didn't give Tylenol before the shots. There's a study showing it could decrease the effectiveness of the vaccine. His pedi recommended holding off on it too. He cried and I nursed him and he calmed down. Once he got a fever later that day, I gave him Tylenol.
