Question re: March for Babies

I was on the website for the March for Babies, but it's not working the greatest for me.  Can someone give me the low down on how this works?  I have never done a "March" of any kind before and am a dummy to how this works.  I'm extremely interested in doing this and don't doubt that I could get a bunch of people to help or donate or do whatever.  Thanks!

Re: Question re: March for Babies

  • It is just like a walk. YOu can get a team together or go on your own. You raised money and then walk on that day. Most places are April 26th.

  • If you have never walked/registered for the March for Babies than you need to create a username/password.    If you are going to be "in charge" of your team than I would sign up as the Team Captain.    Then you can create a name for your team and have access to your team page.   You will also need to select what walk site you will be participating at.    When you select a site it will give you details on when/where the walk is.

Once you are registered than you will have access to your own personal page.   You can create a fundraising goal (that can be changed if needed) for you personally as well as your team.

If you want other people to join your team than let them know your team name and then encourage them to sign up on the site and then select your team.

Let me know if you need more help.   They redesigned the site this year but I'm already signed up so if you have a specific question I'm more than happy to help out!   :)

  • Ok, I think I'm understanding this.  So then after I start a team I go around and ask people to donate whatever amount they want?  Does each person on the team have to ask people for donations, or just the leader?  Also, can you walk "in honor" of someone?  I think they do that for breast cancer walks if I remember right.
  • Anyone on the team can ask for donations.  If you have family and friends joining you than I would definitely encourage them to get their own donations.    It is not a requirement to for individuals to get donations but there are prizes (tshirts, ipods, etc) based on hitting certain fundraising levels.

The best way to ask for donations to ask in person (your local office should have paper forms that you can bring to the office, church, etc, send an email or use your blog if you have one.   You can give people your personal page link so that they can donate directly to your team via credit card (or by indicating they will send a check).   You can also get a widget for your blog that links to your personal page.

Here is the link to our personal page (it has not been updated for this year - this is what we had for last year).   https://tinyurl.com/6tpefn

They don't have a place to enter that you are walking in honor of someone but you can personalize your page with that information (like ours above).

    I hope that helps!

  • Awesome, thanks!!
