28 weeks

ive just turned 28 weeks and I've had a cough/cold for the last two days, my baby has barely moved during these two days is it just because I'm ill? Or should I be worried?

Re: 28 weeks

  • Maybe baby has turned to a position where you can't feel the movement as well. Have you tried drinking a cup of cold water or juice to see if that gets baby moving? Has your OB or midwife talked to you yet about doing kick counts? Mine has said at this point I should be able to get 10 movements in an hour twice a day. There may be long periods during the day when baby is sleeping so if you don't get movement right away wait another hour or two and try again. I did a lot of gaming when I was pregnant with DS and if I was worried I'd lay the controller against my belly so he'd feel it when the shocks would vibrate and that'd always get him moving.

  • I had a period of 2-3 days of very reduced movement. I was trying not to worry since I was still feeling something, just not a lot of strong, hard kicks. I called my OB on the 3rd day and they told me to come in for an ultrasound to set my mind at ease. They said baby probably just moved to a spot that I couldn't feel him as well in. They didn't seem overly concerned. I think they were offering the ultrasound just so I wouldn't worry. Everything was fine and kicking is back to normal now! I'm sure your baby is fine, but it doesn't hurt to call. Better safe than sorry!
