How did your ultrasound compare?

How accurate was your last ultrasound when they estimated size? My last ultrasound was at 37 weeks and he was 8 Ibs 3 oz and his head was measuring 41 weeks already....

Re: How did your ultrasound compare?

  • My doctor's office doesn't even quote size at the end. My OB says it can be so off since they're so squished in there that they don't even mess with it.

  • My current doctor doesn't do that - at all. My previous doctor was always over by about a pound.
  • Mine was actually spot on last time. Baby was on the small size and they called it within a few oz.
  • My ultrasound at 36 weeks was 7.5. I just had him at 38+3 and he weighed 9.5. So I don't know how accurate the estimates are.
  • I'm not sure why they even bother ordering ultrasounds so late for size. It's usually accurate +\- a whole pound
  • My last one at 37w4d said 7lb11oz. DS was born at 38w1d and weighed in at 7lb4oz.
  • I had one yesterday at 38 weeks and they estimate baby at 8lb3oz, head and stomach measure at 40 weeks already. It will be interesting to see how close they are!
  • I had an ultrasound last week (36 weeks) and we didn't get a weight / height suggestion.
  • I had one at 37 weeks and they estimated close to 8 lbs. I am being induced in 2 days at 39 weeks and I am nervous!

  • I had one yesterday and they are estimating him to be 6lbs 2oz at 37 weeks

  • Had one just Thursday at 36 weeks, she is '6.2'
We'll see in a few weeks how accurate it was...
I have an ultrasound every week now, and just take with a grain of salt when they tell me.
  • My son was estimated to be 8 lb, 12 oz at 37 weeks, and he was born 40 w and 4 days at 8 lbs 10 oz. I wouldn't take any late measurements too seriously. There's no 100% and last week my OB even said that mother's intuition is usually right.
  • LO was measuring 6 1/2 lbs at my 36 week appointment.

  • I haven't had an ultrasound since 24 weeks.
  • My son was born at 33.5 weeks. His last ultrasound 3 days prior was 4.15 and he was born 5.15.

My daughter they estimated over 9 lbs and was born at term at 8.7.
  • I had a 2D scan on the 22nd, and they estimated 9 lbs or a bit bigger, but when I went for my 3D scan on the 25th they said 10 lbs or a bit smaller, within 1 lb difference.
  • With my first they said he was 7.5 lbs at 38w3d, he was born 7 lbs even at 38w6d.
  • My dr doesn't do ultrasounds after the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, so I'll be interested to see how big baby boy is! I'm 38+3 weeks
  • Had a scan Friday because I was measuring small at my 38 week appointment Wednesday and she was estimated to be 8 lbs 4 oz and her head was measuring something like 40 weeks and a few days (I was actually 38w5d at the scan). No baby yet but I'll be interested to see how accurate this was!
  • We got an ultrasound done at 36 weeks because I was measuring at 30 weeks and had not been putting on anymore weight. When they did give us her est. Fetal weight she was at 4.6 pounds
