Any STM's or high risk moms that have to take their glucose test early? I had gestational diabetes with DD so they did the one hour test last week (I failed) and the 3 hr test this morning. I should have my results by tomorrow.
I am nervous about the affects on baby if I have it so early this time (18 weeks). With DD the further I progressed in my pregnancy the harder it became for me to control...I controlled it completely through diet until 4 weeks before giving birth...then I had to take oral medication.
Just wondering if any other momma's are dealing with this right now.
Praying this is our take home baby. STICK TURKEY
Mommy will miss you everyday my beautiful angel. We love you

Re: Early Glucose Screen
I just turned 18 weeks on Wednesday and had the test done last Saturday.
My test wasn't like the one I had with DS. With DS, they had me drink the stuff, then poked my finger and checked my sugar level only for 2 hours because my sugar kept going higher and higher.
This time, I had 2 vials of blood taken and then was given the stuff to drink. Then they took one vial of blood every hour on the hour for the next 3 hours.
I didn't know when my doctors office would get the results so I called and they told me that I am gestational diabetes free this time.
Thank goodness for this because I don't know if this doctors office would have given me metformin again or gone straight to insulin and I would have had a huge problem sticking myself with a needle.
I really don't think it will affect the baby much if you gave gestational diabetes this time because, IMO, even with the last baby, you had gestational diabetes the entire time, but didn't know about it until they did the test around 28 weeks. I think the only thing that changes is the time you know that you have it. Just my opinion though. If you are very nervous or concerned, I suggest talking to your doctor about the possible affects it may have on the baby.
Wishing you the best that your results come back normal like mine did! Keep us updated please.
Mine was the same as last time, they bring me back and take a vial of blood. Drink the glucose drink and then take a vial of blood every hour for the next three.
I hope you're right. I'm definately going to talk to my doctor if a fail.
Make a pregnancy ticker
Feeling movement is one of the best ways to know how baby is doing so kick counts are something you can do for reassurance.
I'm a type 1 diabetic and STM so I obviously don't get tested but some of the concerns are the same.
This time it was positive, so I went to see a dietician and she had me check my blood 4 times a day for a week (fasting then an hour after each meal). After a week I went to Dr with my numbers and they put me on insulin already!
I take slow acting insulin at night, but they said I may need to start taking it with meals as I get further along.
Honestly you can barely feel the needle, it is only 4 mm. But it takes me 5 min to get the courage, so weird for me to inject myself.
Hopefully this baby will be under 10 lbs
