How soon, after getting a membrane sweep, did you go into labor? I'm 38 weeks & getting one in a few days.

    It widely varies based on the woman. I had one when I was already having contractions less than 10 minutes apart but had dealt with a stall the day before and feared another stall. The doctor offered, and I went for it. She did the sweep mid-morning when I was at a 4 and then I headed to the hospital around 4 that afternoon where I was well into active labor and dilated to a 7. I've heard women who have a couple and it doesn't do anything. It seems to me that it really depends on your body and how ready it is for labor and delivery. It's definitely not a sure thing.     @LiveNLove44 Yeah I Had Read Online that it usually works about 50% of the time but I just wanted to hear some experiences. My ob had said at my last appointment that my cervix was opened up at her finger tips but she didn't say how dilated I was . She said this next appt if I'm opened up more than she will do the sweep. I'm soo hoping it works tho lol cause I'm ready to have this baby already. I've been having Braxton hicks everyday & feels like they're getting worse day by day

    I have heard of some women going into labor same day, and for others nothing happened. I agree it varies woman to woman. Good luck!

    My doula highly recommended a membrane sweep, particularly if you're post date. She is a very very busy doula so I assume she has seen it work with a good amount of success.

    I had one done at 37 weeks with DS and nothing happened, then again at 38 weeks and my water broke that same night

    I was 4 days beyond my due date with my first. Started to lose my mucus plug that morning and had my appt w my OBGYN that afternoon on a Friday. She did the membrane sweep in the office and I went into labor the next day at approx 1:15 that afternoon. Delivered a healthy baby girl the next morning at 11:49 am.

    I had one done last week at 38wks. My OB said my cervix was closed so it most likely wouldnt induce labour, but help prevent going overdue. I think it depends on how your cervix is when its done. Im not gonna lie, its not pleasant. But Im hoping that it has started the ball rolling for me to go into labour. Good luck to you!!!

    I have been seeing my obgyn every other day for a sweep and nothing has happened yet. I've had 3 as of Friday and going for my next one tomorrow (Monday). Hoping that at some point it will work! I'm 39weeks as of today. We also attended a wedding last night and I was trying to dance the baby out but still no sign of him wanting to come out

    I had one my last pregnancy I was 39 weeks and 2 hours after I went into labor. I was already 4cm 100 effaced though. After a looooong labor my daughter was born. I'm considering doing this time too.

    I had one done today. It was unpleasant... Going to the clinic in 2 days time for another sweep.

    I had one done for each of my two previous pregnancies and had the baby within 24 hrs. It wasn't comfortable so I am hoping that I don't need to do it this time but I feel like it works for my body :)

    I had mine done for a second time today. Let's see if it works this time. 39 weeks +2. I have until Friday before I'm induced for medical reasons (I have large babies)

    I had mine done yesterday... 27 hours later haven't had any spotting or contractions just a little cramping. With my first child I had him 30 hours after getting membranes swept. I'm 39+3 right now and baby is big. Hoping I go tonight or tomorrow. I'm impatient to find out what we are having and see our new little one!

    I'm currently 38/2 and scheduled to be induced Monday. I had mine swept about 27 hours ago. I had a lot of cramping and contractions last night but they stopped. I'm spitting today and really cramping... Contractions off and on.

    If I am dilated at all, I will have my membrane sweep tomorrow. I am scheduled for induction on Sunday, but would love to labor naturally before then.
