My husband and I were in a car wreck when I was 14 weeks pregnant with our first and my water broke that same night. A few days later, I started bleeding, leaking fluid and called my OB. She informed me that it was perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. A few weeks later at our 18 week appointment, the ultrasound tech told me that my amniotic fluid was dangerously low (I was supposed to have 9-11cm and I had 1-2cm) and that something needed to be done. I talked to my OB and she told me it was nothing to worry about. My husband and I didn't agree with her and knew we needed another opinion..so we went to a high risk pregnancy specialist. He told us that bleeding and leaking fluid was far from normal and that we needed to do something. He told us that the night of the car wreck I should've been given some meds and been hospitalized for a few days...none of which was done. (I didn't even get a ultrasound!) We made a few more trips back to see him before I was hospitalized at 27 weeks. I've been on complete bed rest in the hospital for almost 6 weeks now and they're planning a C section within the next month. I'm being monitored 2x daily for an hour and my unborn daughter is looking great. She's growing perfectly, she's right where she should be and seems to be in no hurry of coming anytime soon. It's been a hard pregnancy and hasn't gone the way I thought it would but I am so thankful she's growing and doing so well. I just wanted to share my story to maybe give some hope and encouragement to some other moms out there
