Itching

So im itching all over my body (except my stomach-go figure). Babys fine, bloods fine, no allergies, wtf? Pregno related? I don't want to keep taking benadryl. Also I dont think its dry skin because I have been moisturizing like crazy. Ahh so uncomfy :((

Re: Itching

  • I'm not sure if pupps is beyond the belly itching? Are you having a boy by chance?

  • They say itchiness is a big pregnancy symptom with all the changes going on in our body. I think I read it as a common symptom on a weekly update somewhere a week or two ago? But I'm not sure what's normal itching-wise and what's not or if yours is just that since your struggling so much. I hope you find your answers!

Also I forgot to add it is common to develop allergies you never had before during pregnancy as weird as that sounds.

  • I have been itching all over!! I can't wear capris or shorts or I claw my legs. Not to mention they are already torn up from my scratching. I have started using aveeno fragrance free body wash and lotion, and not shaving as much (another reason to wear pants). I wish I could offer more help... But, like you, I deal with it as best I can so I don't have to keep taking my Zyrtec.
  • I'm on the same boat. I have cl very long nails and I usually scratch until I bleed a little. Ugh! I hate it, but that's the only way I can get relief! Hope itchiness gets better for us!

  • I have noticed it is the worst one day after I shave. I know it's gross, but I'm seriously about to stop shaving. Not worth the itch!!

@Achae yes im having a boy.

@davidroxie you may be on to something with the after shaving. My legs were sooo bad last night, shaved yesterday. Even wondered if it was shave cream.
  • Forgot to add- its WAY worse at night. So freakin weird.
  • @Lola2o1

YES it is. Like right before I go to bed. It makes me wonder if I'm allergic to something at my house because it's not that bad during the day. I probably will change the sheets today now that I'm thinking about it.
  • I had the itching til I was bleeding legs thing too and I was moisturizing but I was using bath and body works lotion (like I usually do) but then I switched to the target brand of aveeno and would put a really thick layer on and now it's under control. Maybe try that? Mine was worst at night too

  • @mcklough ha just sent my DH out to pick me up some type of oatmeal based anti itch lotion. Lets hope it works! I feel like a dope addict constantly scratching!
  • Severe itching without a rash that is worse at night could be cholestasis of pregnancy. Ask your doctor to test for Bile Acid and ALT. I'm not a dr. But have experienced this liver disorder and it can be serious just ask your dr for the blood tests, if the itching persists and Drs just insist its normal push for the test.
  • itching is definitely a symptom of pregnancy!  and it's the worst!!  I would for sure go with Aveeno (sp?) daily lotion.  That's what I use and it helps with the itching and keeps me moisturized.  I might be crazy, but I used it all last pregnancy on my belly and boobs, and I didn't have any stretch marks!

  • Omg I was just coming on here to post about this issue and ask for help. I am dying here, I'm so itchy all the time. Mostly it's on my chest and I just can't stop.

  • Try Aveeno Eczema lotion. It was the best for me with DD. Also have you tried vitamin E oil at night? I use Burt's Bees Momma Bee oil at night and the Momma Bee lotion in the morning
As for shaving I have sensitive skin so I only use Johnson's Baby Oil on my legs. It keeps them moisturize whereas shaving creams dry me out.
If it's so bad you're itching yourself raw I'd definitely mention it to your doc.
Best of Luck to all you ladies, itchiness is the worst.
  • I have eczema and itchiness when I'm not pregnant...I use anything with oatmeal (Walmart version of Aveeno is fantastic)... when it gets really bad or I've scratched myself raw, I use Walmart version of medicated lotion (it tingles, but helps to clear it up). I will agree that shaving sometimes makes it worse so avoid if ya can
  • Tried Eucerin Skin Calming Itch Relief Treatment. Seemed to work!
