Mom's with asthma

Hi mommies! Anyone else have pretty severe asthma? My asthma has been pretty well controlled for a year or so now. I have environmental allergic asthma. I've noticed I'm already really struggling with keeping my breathing good. Makes me nervous about how the last trimester will be. Anyone else?

Just wanted to note in case there is already a thread about this that I DID search and didn't come up with anything.

Me! Last time mine felt a little worse during trimester one, but actually got better than before pregnancy once I popped and really became a non issue. I'm hoping for the same luck this time around.
Eta I carried low the whole time last pregnancy once the bump showed.

  • Oh good so there is a glimmer of hope!!! I feel like I can't even walk 10 feet without coughing. Thank goodness for my Dr appt next week!
  • I have had asthma since I was about 1-2 but didn't get diagnosed until I was 6. Since I've gotten older, it's more controlled but I have noticed I get out of breath quicker. I have an appointment with my OB on the 13th and my asthma and allergy doctor on the 16th so I will follow up then. I've heard that it's split in 1/3's - 1/3 have improvement, 1/3 get worse, 1/3 see no change.
  • I have asthma but it's strongly connected to my allergies. It sucks because I can't take Allegra like I use to... At least I don't think I can. This is definitely on my short list of questions to ask at my first appointment.
I'm eager to see if others have tips.

  • I have asthma. I had a really hard time controlling it with my first. I ended up having to go to the ER and get a steroid shot and 4 breathing treatments back to back. After that I had a nebulizer at home that I had to use when I began to have any problems with it. The ER doctor told me that 1/3 of pregnant women's asthma will stay the same, 1/3 will get much worse, and 1/3 will get better. I just got the short end of the stick with that one lol With the nebulizer as well as my daily inhalers, it was no problem controlling it. After the first trimester it didn't even really bother me again. Just make sure that you stay on top of it because once it gets bad, it's really hard to get it back under control.
