Trying to Get Pregnant

Alternative to Preseed! *TMI*

So knowing that DH and I would be upping our sex frequency I knew I would need lube. I saw a lot of people using pressed on these boards, so I went to go buy on Amazon and saw a lot of reviews that men didn't like it because it's sticky/dries quickly etc… I've also seen that complained about here too. So I looked for an alternative and found TTC Astroglide. It had better reviews on Amazon than Preseed, and I promised in WTO that I would review it, when I used it. Well DH and I just used it and it was a great product experience. The applicator works great. The lube works well and doesn't dry and isn't sticky. All in all I give it a 4/5 rating. My only complaint is it's packaged in individual tubes that cannot be reused even if you only use half of the lube in the tube. So it's a little wasteful. Also there are only 8 applications in the box too, so for those of us planning to BD ED, 2 a days, or EOD you could go through this quickly. So I'm actually going to stock up on more. HTH some others on here.

Re: Alternative to Preseed! *TMI*

  • Huh, haven't heard those complaints about preseed before, good to know. DH and I have been using preseed for about four months, even before TTC, on the recommendation of my obgyn and it has worked well for us. Good to know about the alternative though

Yea overall people like Preseed,it still gets a pretty high rating, but there are some people who complain about it drying and consistency, so I figure it's good to have options. I should also note as a disclaimer I've never used *preseed* so I am not making a comparison that one is better than the other, simply that if you don't like it, there is another brand that might work better for you.

  • I have used both and like TTC Astroglide just a bit more.  I do not insert them as directed and just squirt it out and use as normal lube then put cling wrap on it to save for later.
  • I haven't heard of this product but I use Preseed and havent had any issues with it drying or feeling sticky.  DH can't even tell the difference between the Pressed and my natural cm. Good to know there's alternatives though.  I've also heard of Conceive Plus which is a ttc-friendly lube comparable to Preseed but have never tried it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that too to conserve the lube!

  • @Lasscher like the other post said, Conceive Plus is a good option.  I just bought mine on Amazon and it had higher reviews than preseed.
There is also Mineral Oil, Canola Oil and Baby Oil that are all conceive friendly.

  • Thanks for the review! We have preseed and H isn't crazy about it. I'm all about powering through until we finish the tube though, it was just too damn expensive. If we finish it before I get a BFP, I'll try one of the others. Thanks!

  • Whoops not my best wording. :(
  • I've been waiting to see what you thought about this! I want to finish the tube of preseed we already bought because it's so expensive, but if no BFP before then, I will definitely be getting some. Thanks for the review!
