I don't have celiac, but I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and my dr had me stop eating gluten four years ago. The best thing I've had so far is dark chocolate chip waffles. I think they're made by Nature's Path? I'll have to check when I get home and let you know. They're AMAZING. I think they also have pumpkin spice, which I will try soon!
I haven't had any specific cravings, but EVERYTHING is so delicious to me right now. Even things I never liked before - pimento cheese, chicken, ranch dressing... Not great to be ravenous and have tastebuds in overdrive.
No celiac but I've been GF for about a year now for other gastrointestinal issues. My current favourite thing is Rudi's GF cinnamon raisin bread loaded with cream cheese. I eat it practically every day! So delicious!
My mom has Celiac's (actually got it after having me) and she was able to eat gluten during her subsequent pregnancies. I think because your immune system is suppressed during pregnancy? Similarly I have heard women with muscular sclerosis have symptoms decrease during pregnancy.
I have UC and both pregnancy and bread products cause flares for me (though I can have other things with gluten). I love Paleo pancakes I make for me and my toddlers. 3 ripe bananas, 1/2 c nut butter, 3 eggs all blended together, plus chopped fruit or berries if something good is in season, cinnamon, and then some healthy hidden ingredients like flax seeds and veggie powder.
Fry up small cakes in coconut oil. Put a lid on pan when frying first side to make them easier to flip. They taste pretty bready. I love bread.
I found a 'chocolate indulgence' cake at kroger. Certified gluten free which I love!
They can't find 'anything' wrong with me but I scored a 'possible positive' on the celiac blood panel but no food allergies...so I eat gluten free to avoid anaphylaxis shock :-)
I have celiac and due in May. I have had it for 10 years and have been following gluten free but think that now if I even eat a crumb I'm sick. Looking to hear others experiences. This is my first pregnancy.
I have celiacs. I found a gf cashew nut ice cream that's really good. It's salted caramel. We have been learning new recipes since I've been pregnant to combat cravings for things I can't normally eat. My favorite gf recipes are veggie lasagna, tzakiki "gyros" and homemade veggie burgers!
I have the celiac marker and I'm pretty gluten intolerant. I've been mostly gluten free for 2 years - still learning how many sauces have trace gluten! I fell in love with Amy's organic quinoa pasta mac n cheese & the quinoa/flax gluten free bread cheese sandwich.
I'm not GF but my best friend is, she has a recipe for some amazing GF/Lactose free rich chocolate brownies. I'm usually the last person to say "Oh that GF food tastes just like regular!" but in this case it's totally true. If anyone is interested in said recipe I'll get a hold of it.
Thank you for this thread. I have not been diagnosed with anything, but I have been battling a horrible rash off and on for the last few years, that I justy recently began suspecting that it could be dermatitis herpetiformis (related to celiac disease/gluten sensitivity) so I've been cutting out gluten completely to see if it makes a difference. IT'S SO HARD! I will try some of your suggestions for yummy food. I'd love that recipe @Ebiejay
Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone else had experience with this rash? I'm wondering how long it takes to improve after being gluten free..I was planning on giving it about a month.
Mom to Benjamin 6/2011 and Lena 5/2013; baby 3 on the way
I have celiac's, I found out 3 years ago after a long fight to find out what was wrong with me....but there are these delicious cookies I've been making (that are totally unhealthy). They are peanut butter oatmeal raisin cookies, (some people call them monster cookies) they are really easy to make and the recipes online are easy to find. If there is a Costco by you they sell a gluten free flour by the namaste company and you can substitute it in any recipe for flour and is awesome...good luck!
