Measuring big

Hi everyone... FTM and very concerned as I went for 4d scan yesterday at 29 wks and 1.. Baby weighing 3 lb 10 oz which is huge increase from 2 weeks ago and my
Bump is tiny (I am already overweight) .... Baby is and has been as breech as breech can be for the 2 week period and appears to be lazy as hardly moving (also I have ant placenta so not feeling when it is moving often)... She said this is 67% weight which is normal but I am confused as everything I read online says it's more like 97 or something!!

First question, can this really be 67%?
Second, what percentage becomes a worry/referred for monitoring?
Third, has anyone else had similar measurements?
Fourth, is it still likely that it will turn given it's not shifted remotely in 2 weeks?

Really worried and getting myself quite keyed up :-( xx

Re: Measuring big

  • I don't have any information as far as baby position. But I went this past Thursday for ultrasound and I was 28w 5 days and baby was weighing 3lbs 9oz which they told me was big and in the 90 percentile. I am a type 1 diabetic so this is kind of expected with me. They didn't seem concerned about size because baby is doing well and thriving. As long as they think baby is doing well I wouldn't be too concerned as far as size. This will be my third child so I am hoping he won't get too big and I will be able to have a vaginal birth as with my other 2. You will need to discuss more with your doctor about size but being your first pregnancy they may suggest or give you the option of a c section depending on how big baby gets. I would try not to worry about position too much at this point you still have 10 weeks give or take mine has either been in I guess you would call breech position or transverse in each ultrasound I think it is still a little early for them to get into the birth position at this point. I hope this helps!!

  • For your weight concerns, I would like you to note first that the measurements are estimates.. My midwife & doctor both advised early on in pregnancy to not over look into them or I would drive myself crazy - if your doctor was not concerned I would not be concerned. I was 29 weeks & 3 days & baby is estimated at 3lb 7 oz not too far off from yours. I was told it's normal & that the biggest area of concern is if your baby were to be on the very low end such as 10th percentile etc.
For your positioning I was advised that the time to begin thinking about it would be 32 weeks & even then baby's still moving around a lot. I would suggest spinningbabies.com & there's a lot of helpful tips online you can find about helping your baby get into a good position (who knew recliners were bad!).

Overall, I think you are just stressing yourself out (like any normal pregnant momma would). You should ask your doctor's/midwives questions & concerns - that's what they're there for, try to relax, & think positively & healthily for your little baby coming!
  • Thank you so much to you both! It means a lot and I am sorry for being such a worrier!! I'm saying all this even whilst worrying that my bump is too small ironically!! I'll sleep better tonight thanks to you both!! :-) wishing you both all the best! Xx
