First off, this is totally normal. I had to let my first child sleep on me for the first month. You are NOT a failure, your baby is just normal
How old is your LO?
Babies spend 9 months curled up inside your warm comfortable body. When they are born they NEED that comfort and sleep best in moms arms. That's not ideal but sometimes that's just what you have to do for the first few weeks.
You are going to be tired. Just accept that. You will be downright exhausted for a long time.
Next, babies usually hate sleeping in bassinets. Parents are usually surprised by this. They hate being flat on their back. I finally figured that out with my second child and bought a Rock n Play. I suggest you get one or something that is angled slightly. Also, babies usually HAVE to be swaddled to feel secure. My daughter slept swaddled in her RnP for the first 4 months of her life. Worked great.
Lastly, you are probably emotional because of your hormones. That will pass. This will all pass but it's hard work. Hang in there.

Last night we tried his crib instead if the bassinet and that seemed much better he just doesn't seem to like the bassinet plus I think playing his musical mobile in his crib helped a bit. My mom also came to help out for the night. Hoping for another night like that.
