PANORAMA TEST

I got my results (only took 8 days!) and there are NO ABNORMALITIES. SUCH a huge relief :) AND my insurance DID cover it! We weren't sure if it would!!

Neither my husband nor my parents are answering their phones and I had to share with someone!

  • Awesome!!! Did you find out the gender?
  • Fabulous news!  How long did your results take to come in?  We had ours drawn yesterday- they said maybe 10 days- seems like FOREVER!
  • Yay! 8 days is pretty fast to get the results. They told me it would take 10 business days, so I still have to wait 2 weeks. Seems like forever.

  • Thanks everyone!! And yes, we found out the sex: it's a boy! So that makes the name question easier!!

And folks waiting on results, GOOD LUCK. And they said it's been super fast lately - used to be 10-14 days, recently more like 7-8.

  • Yey! Got my blood drawn today and she said maximum of a week but I think we used a different company (same test.) I'm so excited!
  • Do they do this test when they draw your blood? If so said mine was perfect. How soon have some of you found out the gender of the baby? I hope to find out in my next appointment I will be about 14 weeks
  • Congrats!!!! TEAM BLUE all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I researched this before, I looked up the Tricare policies, and they will only cover medically necessary testing. If you are high risk, over 40, have had a child with birth defects, etc. they will usually do extra testing in order to ensure that your baby is healthy. I read that if the NT scan comes back with high risk, they will do further testing and cover it. If your NT was normal though, they will most likely not cover the Panorama test. Your best option would be to call your provider and have them inquire. They would be the subject matter expert and will most likely give you a definite yes or no.

I know when I filled out my first tri info packet, they asked if I wanted to receive extra genetic testing. I said no because I didn't want to take extra tests unless they were absolutely necessary. I'm not sure if this means they covered the extra testing though.

  • Are you TriCare prime or standard? I doubt base does it for non high risk. Standard is free though be you just have to pay pretty low copays so I really urge yo to look into it for your pregnancy in general. So nice choosing your dr and hospital etc. I had a medicated birth me DS w in NICU for. A week and our entire copay was $50. God I mis TriCare lol.

Anyway if you're standard, just ask your doctor for it. A lot of them have a max out of pocket for non high risk patients. You can also call sequenom and ask if TriCare covers VisibiliT which is their low risk version of materniT21. It covers trisomy 18, 21, and sex.

  • Just an FYI on info from my midwife- our insurance does not cover the tests either but the lab they go through (GenPath) has a program where they bill the insurance and whatever the insurance doesn't pay they just write off (so no cost to us).  Sounds WAY to good to be true but my midwife swears it's the case- she gave me the card of their rep and said that when our $3000 bill comes in (we went with the full spectrum/test for anything and everything) "don't panic and call this lady".  Not sure if it's just an agreement they have with my birthing center or if they offer it elsewhere.  Just thought I'd share our good fortune. Good luck to all the ladies who are waiting for results!
  • I did the genetic testing and I am not sure if my insurance covers it, but it seems that my OB office has an agreement with Verifi because they are only charging $100 flat fee for the testing.
