Confused/miscarriage

Hi ladies, 1st sorry to all the ladies who have had a miscarriage. I just experienced my first today. I went to the emergency room with a lot of blood loss and major cramping. The staff said my hormone level was about in the high 20,000 but when they did an ultrasound and vaginal ultrasound they didnt see proof of pregnancy. So when my midwife called me back she was concerned i have tubal pregnancy and thats why they could not see anything. Shhe told me i couldnt have completed a miscarriage in 2-3 hours. Im confused and i just want some closure. I have an appointment with my midwife on friday, hopefully she can give me more answers.

    Hi, sorry about your loss. The same thing happened with my loss. I was only spotting and my ultrasound only showed a thickened uterine lining but no sign of a pregnancy. Part of the ultrasound is usually looking at the ovaries and Fallopian tubes also. They did not see any sign of pregnancy in Fallopian tubes either. I am sure they looked at yours too during your ultrasound. Ultrasound usually can not see a baby at 5 weeks or less. So in my case the baby must have stopped growing very early at 5 weeks or less.
    My doctor still ran a repeat hcg level 2 days later and did a repeat a ultrasound just to make sure there wasn't and ectopic pregnancy. She did the ultrasound because of my repeat hcg level dropped but very minimally. She wanted to check for an ectopic again. My repeat ultrasound did not show anything again and my hcg started decreasing after that. I am sure your midwife just wants to be sure that nothing is missed.
