I know of boys' heart rates also to be on the higher end too, so the old wives tale should not be considered for serious thought. Are you asking us to guess what you're having?
I would say boy. But that means nothing. DD started out at 179 and then was consistently in the 160 until I went late and my last few appt it was in th high 140s.
Weird! It cut out my post halfway. The second half basically said:
What does correlate to hear rate is how many weeks you are. Earlier on (6-8) it's normal to be between 120-140. Between 8-10 weeks it's totally normal to go up to nearly 200 (DS heart rate at 9 weeks was 189). After that it levels out.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!
Proud SAHM to our little monkey H.

I'm 12 weeks at 154. So I thought its leaning more towards girl. But my friend just found out she's having a boy so I asked her and his heart rate is at 155. There's really no way of telling.
Re: Heart rates and opinions
I wouldn't put too much stock in it. My DD consistently had a heartbeat in the 120s-130s. If I went by the old wives tale, I should have had a boy
It's a boy! Grow baby, grow! EDD: 4/22/2016
