I had my first U/S after starting stims. I have 9 follicles on my left and 11 on my right. Is that good? The sonogramer told me they want a lot more but I'm assuming that's after a few more days of stims?
Colleen0516 Lupron usually causes women to stop ovulating or having menstrual periods, so it is one of the meds used as a suppression me. Last time I was on Ganirelix and I couldn't even think straight when I was on that.

Well I just got back from the doctors office. I am SOOOO much more relaxed. I will be going in on Friday for BW and US. I start injections that day too. I will have about 12 days of stimming, with the small needles. (Yes, everything relates to the needs size for me lol) Then the retrieval is estimated for oct 6th.
I found out great news though. Tbe PIO that I feared, won't be so bad. My doctor has me doing it for only 3-4 days!!!!! Then I will use suppositories for the rest of the time. My progesterone levels have always been great and they don't think I will need to use the oil for as long as others do. It's all tentative (so I could be celebrating early here- anytbing can change) but for now, I'm calm! I've never been more excited about 3 needles haha
One hiccup we had was the # of embryos transferred! They want to do 1-2 for a 3 day and only 1 for a 5 day. I want to do 2 regardless, I am okay with multiples. Obviously my doctor is cautious to multiples. I only met with my IVF nurse today. She's such a sweet lady, I wasn't going to press the issue with her, but I will be emailing my doctor today. If I'm going to do this process, I want to ensure that we did everything possible. 2 gives me a greater chance at a baby and if we receive multiples that we consider it a blessing!
@ShayLatrice I don't know why I haven't been on Lupron, I guess I don't need it? I was on birthcontrol and now on Estrace. I just came off the BC.

@Colleen0516 I think I had 18 or something first us then it jumped up to 23 and 29 on following apts. so don't worry! And now I dropped to 16, but they still think ill have over 20 eggs. FYI-- Statistics show that women with 15-20 eggs collected are most likely to have a BFP after fresh transfer!
And the decision, 1 or 2 embryos, is entirely yours and your DH. Not up to the RE. Listen to their advice and understand the + and - of it, but you guys make the call. A lot should depend on embryo quality which you don't know until the ET! My suggestion, be flexible but have an idea of what you are comfortable with. so excited for you!!

Final bw/us went well today, estrogen over 600 and lining at 12mm, so last night of Lupron then starting PIO tomorrow.
Do you know if your clinics check progesterone levels after transfer to make sure all is well? I think it's odd they add PIO but then don't check to make sure it's working!
@Colleen0515 yes you will probably have a light period before stimming..... as for #s, my doctor had the same recommendations for my fresh IVF cycle... I fought it for a while but I was told the success rates for 1 vs 2 actually aren't that different (I don't understand why thought), just your change of multiples, so I agreed to do a single transfer... BFN now I am transferring 2! Definitely higher risks though.....
In case anyone else is wondering, my nurse emailed me back about blood work between transfer and beta: Not needed. The addition of progesterone is part of your protocol. The progesterone blood levels are "skewed" and not helpful because the medication circulates through your blood.

My doctor called and wants me to come into the office tomorrow for another US & more BW. I wasn't scheduled until Friday and just went in today. I don't mind going in but the additional follow-up is somewhat worrisome. My estrogen is 391 after three days of stims. She said I'm progressing nicely but am coming out of the gate a little too quickly (I don't have PCOS). When she called, I was in a place where I couldn't talk freely. Does anyone know the average estrogen level early in the stim stage?
More monitoring is good. They will adjust your meds and manage your cycle. I was worried when they upped my monitoring at first too, but now I'm comforted by the fact that they are so on it. It definitely does not mean there's anything amiss with your cycle! They've brought me in every day (not fun) and monitored my estrogen which was 2734 today (I was ~189 day 3 of stims but had tons of follies). GL!!!
It's official! Trigger tonight at 11:20pm and ER Friday at 11:20am. My lost follies (I call them jeggies since our last name begins with J) returned and may even be mature by ER. I've got 14 follies btwn 16-20mm and 12 btwn 11-15mm. Yikes!!! Estrogen and progesterone spiked and I feel not great. Bleck! Only 2 more days. GL in your cycle everyone. I know it's been a tough day for some and we've got several ladies in their tww or just starting stims. FX for all of you!!!
So, has anyone experienced spotting or bleeding after coming off birth control? So, I had my retrieval at the end of August. I got AF on September 5th. They were doing pgs testing and had me on birth control for 10 day. Stopped this past Friday. Started estrogen yesterday and now it appears that I have a little more than spotting. I spoke with the nurse this morning and she said spotting could be the bcp but it seems like more. Has anyone experienced this? I don't want this to get in the way of the retrieval on the 9th??? Should I worry about this or call them tomorrow if it co rubies or do you think it's normal? I don't want to have to delay this any longer!
Idk. I was on OCPs for 14 days before I started stimming and had what I what loosely term a mini-period that started 3 days after stopping the OCPs. They said it was normal. Do you have a retrieval or a transfer on October 9th? I would think you'd be ok either way!
@LCK0830 the stims are the injections, right? I've already done the injection part. I'm now just doing the estrogen pills.... Sorry I'm not completely up on the logo yet. Thanks for the info.
No problem! "Stims" are the injections that stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. I'm currently in this stage. I took birth control pills for 19 days, stopped on 9/16, had my period 9/19 - 9/21 (which is a normal length for me), and started Gonal F and Menopur (stims) on 9/20. I won't take my estrogen pills until the evening of my retrieval, which is tentatively scheduled for 10/3. I think spotting/period is normal. I'd call your nurse tomorrow just to make sure but I don't know why it would be a problem. I think your body is getting back on track after the BC pills.
Yeah, I've already done the sims and am in between that and the retrieval. I had to wait because we did PGS testing. I will call tomorrow. Yeah, I had the retrieval, a period then started the stims, went on birth control and then a few days later started the estrogen and got AF. I just thought it was weird because I had already had a period 2 weeks ago. I will definitely call the nurse tomorrow it it continues. Thanks for your help @ Lck0830. Your retrieval is coming up soon. I just want to get the show on the road. I feel like I've been waiting forever. I've got patience though.
Hi girls! So I had my second monitoring appointment this am (after 6 days of stims). And according to the ultrasound technician I have "a lot" of follicles. From what I could see on the screen it looked like they measured anywhere from 11-18mm. I'm still waiting to hear from the nurse but I assume I will have at least another 4 days or so of stims? Does this seem like I am where I should be after 6 days? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as always!
Colleen0516, @jay5y2 , @Joyzie77 ... I'm really glad that someone else is on the same schedule. It'll make things a tad easier, won't feel like I'm going at this alone. Also, my doctor said it is normal to have some light bleeding before stimming she warned me about it before she gave me my calendar because I had to stop BC at a certain point.

@joyzie77 Sorry I don't know but it sounds like you are okay to me; I think it's typical to have bleeding - your body is going through a lot.
@runmeg91 You're in a good spot! Some people only stim for 8 days, others closer to 2 weeks.
@HBamama2B FX for you! All sounds super promising! When I had my ER back in July, the doctor told me she expected to get about 11 mature eggs, and ended up retrieving 26! Those lil jeggies can hide so I bet you get lots with your #s!!

So I started lupron over a week ago and had my supression check today before start stims on saturday. My RE found about 9 follicles on one ovary and 5 + a cyst on the other. Anyone know what happens when you have a cyst? She said if my estrogen levels are low, then she can get rid of the cyst tomorrow and I can continue one w my schedule. If they're high, I'd have to stay on lupron a few more weeks. Anyone heard of this situation? Is this going to lower my chances?

hi @caitiemae! I actually had a cyst during my suppression phase as well and I was totally freaking out as it was secreting estrogen. I ended up just suppressing for 1 more week and although still there, the cyst was not releasing estrogen so all was fine to begin stims at that point. I was told it definitely would not affect the outcome (still BFN but I had a possible polyp that developed during stims...that's another story!). So although perhaps a minor setback, don't worry! That's why they check and check and recheck! Sounds like they are on top of it for you!
Update on my Beta. Went from 143.1 to 352 in 48 hours. First sono next Friday=) thank you for all the help and support ladies...especially you @HBamama2B I wish you the BEST of luck tomorrow on your ER!!!
So I just heard back from my nurse. She said I have 10 measurable egg follicles in my right ovary and 2 in my left. I'm not sure I would agree with the ultrasound tech that said I have "a lot" of follicles. They want me to come back in tomorrow for monitoring. Should I assume I will be going in almost everyday now until egg retrieval? Tomorrow will be day 8 of stims. I hope 12 is enough at this point! Maybe a will get a few more?
@runmeg91 I would plan on going in everyday until they tell you to trigger! You're close! At ER, my doctor said she expected to get 11 eggs... she got 26! So you never know how many are hiding in there.
I went every day. It may be a safe bet and just excited f they give you a day off. The time between the trigger and the ER will feel so good! No needles and no US!
My doctor is refusing to transfer more than 1 embryo. He will only transfer 1 embryo on a day 5 transfer and most likely only transfer 1 embryo on a day 3 transfer. He said this is my first round of IVF and there's no reason to transfer 2. I don't even know what to think or how to feel. So many of you, who are in similar situation As me, are able to transfer 2....So what makes me different other than my doctor?

@Colleen0516 I've seen that before. Some drs are strict. I had a day 6 transfer with really good embryos (and it worked, just not sure how many are in there yet) It's my first IVF too...but our Dr let us choose up to 2 as long as we understand that there is a risk of multiples. Try to plead your case...

-3 IUI's w/ Clomid= BFN
-IVF #1-Follistim and Menopur= BFN
***11 Eggs, 10 mature, 8 fertilized, transferred 1 (day 5) 2 made it to freeze
-FET #1- Transferred 2, day 5 embryos =BFN
-IVF #2- Follistim and Menopur = BFN
***11 retrieved, 8 mature, 6 fertilized, transferred 2 (day 3), 4 made it to freeze (Follistim and Menopur) = BFN
-FET #2- Transferred 2, day 3 embryos = BFN

Found out I was positive for MTHFR Gene Mutation during TWW of IVF #4
My doctor called and wants me to come into the office tomorrow for another US & more BW. I wasn't scheduled until Friday and just went in today. I don't mind going in but the additional follow-up is somewhat worrisome. My estrogen is 391 after three days of stims. She said I'm progressing nicely but am coming out of the gate a little too quickly (I don't have PCOS). When she called, I was in a place where I couldn't talk freely. Does anyone know the average estrogen level early in the stim stage?

08/2015 ~ Med Protocol #2: Started stims 09/13
ER 10/9 with 6 Eggs Retrieved/3 SNOWFLAKES!!
10/22/15 ~ AF Showed up, waiting for Fibroid removal.
10/28/15 ~ Saline Ultrasound - Fibroids were gone. FET scheduled for December 3rd!

So I started lupron over a week ago and had my supression check today before start stims on saturday. My RE found about 9 follicles on one ovary and 5 + a cyst on the other. Anyone know what happens when you have a cyst? She said if my estrogen levels are low, then she can get rid of the cyst tomorrow and I can continue one w my schedule. If they're high, I'd have to stay on lupron a few more weeks. Anyone heard of this situation? Is this going to lower my chances?
@Joyzie77 I was nervous about spitting too but my nurse said that I may get a light period and that its completely normal and won't affect anything!
However, I have not started stimming yet. I start tomorrow.

So many of you, who are in similar situation As me, are able to transfer 2....So what makes me different other than my doctor?
