Food to induce labor?

so hubby, kids, & I went to skipolini's for lunch and tried their "prego pizza" which is supposed to induce labor. (No I'm not counting on it but it was still amazing lol) but has a certain food worked for anyone? I've done everything physically to try and move things along... Now I'm trying food! Haha I'm 38 weeks, prodromal labor for a couple of weeks, & I am so ready. These contractions are painful! Not just regular bh contractions.... Dilated to 2 cm 50% effaced (as of 1 weeks ago) our last was born at 37weeks and was healthy as can be...

Help!

With my son, someone told me about an Italian restaurant in Georgia (I think?) that had a dish that was guaranteed to induce labor, she said she was certain that it was the amount of fresh basil in the sauce.

That weekend I made a homemade marinara with as much basil as I could stand and served it along with pasta and a chicken breast that was stuffed with basil leaves (under the skin). That night I did go into labor, but I was 40w3d at that point. It very well could be a total coincidence, but it tasted pretty amazing either way :)

    Edited for spelling.

  • With my first, I ate a boatload of pineapple and ended up going into labor a few days later.

  • I just ate eggplant parmasian let's see if it works..lol
  • I just went to the store to stalk up. I'm 38+4 and ready for him to vacate. I have pineapple, papaya, raspberry leaf tea and dates. I heard all of the above works. Will update if I start having regular contractions lol (I've had real ones, they just aren't consistent enough)
  • Eggplant didn't work. Only thing that I have gotten real contractions was from rough sex lol. They lasted all night and than stopped at 6am. I felt so bummed.
  • With my first, I ate a whole pineapple and the next day I went into labor. My friend just had her baby on her due date on the 9th and on the 8th she also ate a whole pineapple! Coincidence?? Maybe lol
  • Ate a whole pineapple before bed last night. NOTHING :((
  • I had pineapple two days ago and had contractions for about 12 hours about 10 minutes apart but they went away at 11 am on time for my Dr appt of course lol
  • My friend are 6 dates a day for the last three weeks and went a week early. Not sure if the dates actually helped but she said they did ...
  • *She ate, not she are
  • I also tried dates and raspberry leaf tea. Had the spiciest hot sauce on my tacos for lunch. This child isn't phased. I have my 39 week appointment tomorrow. I'm asking about caster oil.
  • I heard about ginger tea.
  • I've been eating dates and drinking the raspberry leaf tea since 35 weeks but I don't think it's supposed to induce labor, just prepare your body for when it goes into labor naturally. (I've heard it speeds up labor but once you're in it). But once I hit 40 weeks my midwife encourages trying nipple stimulation, sex, spicy food, basil, pineapple, primrose oil, chiropractic appointment and certain herbs. Good luck!
  • Please don't use castor oil! It just irritates your bowels and also babys, it can cause them to poo inside you abs then they can inhale the meconium. To much of a risk I reckon!! Also raspberry leaf tea will NOT help induce labor. ... it's to tone and strengthen your uterus so your contractions are more effective Xx
