Horrible, HORRIBLE....back and hip pain

36w2d...I am having horrible left side back and hip pain. If I sit and lay down it doesn't hurt too bad, but walking and standing is excruciating :( it's gradually gotten worse over the past week and nothing is shaking it. My doctor said that it's because baby boy is in a "bad spot" and laying on a nerve, I can take extra strength Tylenol and she said she can refer me to a rehab specialist but I don't know what they can really do and I don't have the extra time to do it.

Any other moms out there at the ending point with the same pain, and how do you handle it?

Re: Horrible, HORRIBLE....back and hip pain

  • My back and hip pain multiplied when my baby dropped... I started going to the chiropractor. It helps but the hip pain is still really uncomfortable. Not much longer though.

  • I keep saying to myself "just 2-3" more weeks!! I can do this!! Then I get up to pee and I'm like "holy crap....still have 2-3 weeks...."
  • I've been having excruciating back and hip pain for about a week now. It keeps me up all night long because I can't get comfortable. I used a heating pad last night on and off and that helped a lot!
  • I am sitting on a heating pad right now and feels pretty good :)
  • Heating pad, Extra Strength Tylenol, and I see my chiropractor.

I saw a physical therapist when I had sciatic pain and they were able to stretch and press in just the right spots to get it to go away. It was pretty amazing because that pain was horrible. Starting to get hip and back pain now but if I stretch it usually goes away for a little while.
  • I cannot recommend a chiropractor enough! I LOVE mine. I had the worst hip and back pain with my DD (who's 2 1/2) and it never went away after her birth. When I started getting bigger with this little guy, I could barely walk or stand up. After seeing the chiropractor for a few months, I can honestly say I feel better now than I did even before getting pregnant (at least that pain...the rest of me is super uncomfortable, but that's just normal 38 week pregnant stuff I guess).

    Married to J since 5/05, Mommy to T (10/08), L (08/10) and C (02/13) who was born at home.
