What's on your Christmas/holiday list for baby?

Hi all! So I know it's super early but my MIL is flying out to visit next week & wants to shop for my LOs Xmas gifts. Ahhhh! I have a whole list of items they need now/soon but no idea what to ask for for 7+ month olds. I'd love to hear what you all are thinking of. TIA!

Re: What's on your Christmas/holiday list for baby?

  • Books! And I'm opening an account for to put money in for when she goes to school one day so I can help her with costs as much as I can, so of anyone would like to add to that I'm letting them know it exists!

  • His playroom. Decorations. Carpets shelfs.. Ect.. Money for his college saver we started when he was a month old. Also there are a ton of cute 6 month plus toys. So I'll buy a few and ask grandma to.
  • Money. Either for savings or for activities like swim lessons or little gym classes. I have been gifted an overabundance of hand me down clothes and toys already. ready. I also just told my mil a suitcase would be good. We're constantly traveling and I'm using a small pink one from my set for him.
  • I'm making my LO a quiet book. I found it on Pinterest and I thought instead of spending money on a bunch of stuff he will like for 5 seconds I will make an interactive book for him
  • From Santa she will get an activity cube. Otherwise, we do the something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read gifts. We started that with our son and it works out well. We do one gift in each category... I usually pair two books together and for something to wear I do a complete outfit (pants, shirt, socks, shoes).  My family is always asking for hints so I have an amazon wish list for each of my kiddos that I add things to throughout the year for birthdays or Christmas. Baby girls has some pacifiers (good stocking stuffer), Robeez shoes, an A&A dream blanket, books, bath toys, etc.

  • I don't think I'm gonna do anything major for my girls... They won't be old enough to really understand or open gifts and they don't have any wants! My sister has them pretty spoiled so they have lots of clothes and toys... I have a feeling we will enjoys my nieces and nephew open their gifts . We do matching pjs every year and I'm so excited for my girls to be a part of that this year. As for gifts I feel we may just wait until next year!

LO only needs some toys - she has tons of clothes.  Books, and toys like stacking toys, soft blocks, shape sorters, maybe some of the super simple wooden puzzles.  Nothing stuffed, she has tons of cuddly toys.  Maybe a baby sled or wagon for spring time.  The wagon could wait for her birthday too.  Maybe a toy that they can push/ride/stride with for helping with walking.

Edited to Add:  I've been cruising the 'Melissa and Doug' website for ideas.

Not a lot for Christmas maybe a little bit of clothes and an ornament. But we have 2 older kids and a TON of toys and books in this house. For his 1st b-day in late April I'm already planning on the Step 2 Whisper Ride I can't wait to push him around in it when he's older but we'll have snow on the ground till April here.
  • Possibly ask mil for a convertible car seat. They usually don't make it to their first year with the infant. My parents bought lo a high chair for Christmas since she will be right at 7 months and not in a big hurry to start solids. Also think of some toys you think lo would like.
  • Ha...NOTHING. She'll be 7 months old so maybe I'll let her open up something, or maybe I'll buy her some clothes. We've got everything she needs from when my son was little. We're only getting our son a couple gifts since last year we went too crazy with it and now he wants for nothing. But family won't be able to help themselves and the kids will get loads of space-taking stuff.

I'm trying to promote what a pp said, "something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read" with my parents and dd's dad so it doesn't get too out of hand, especially as she's older.  This year, nothing to wear, but I'd like to build up her book collection a bit more, and since she's the first she will need a few more toys/puzzles to tide her over to birthday time I think.  But, I get it, I don't want a house full of crap.  I have an Ikea storage thing with bins, and once they're full, stuff will have to go!  I did get a few things back in April/May when Target went out of business here in Canada for half price.
  • Probably not a lot since he's still young. Maybe a couple of small toys. I want to get a stocking for him. If people ask what to get him I'm entertaining the idea of starting a savings account for college. I know people would rather by him baby things though...
  • Sleeping pills. :p
  • LO is getting the Infantino Turtle activity ball pit and sissy wants to get him squeeze blocks by B. toys. As far as stocking stuffers we will get some baby spoons, travel feeding spoons and roll up some bibs. Possibly some binkies or a small rattle.
  • I got an awesome blender to make his food and smoothies for myself for when I don't have time or need to eat lunch while I'm breastfeeding him. Got it at kohls and ended up with 60 bucks kohls cash and I had nothing I needed so I bought a bunch of interactive toys like activity cubes, stacking toys and I got him one of those activity walkers that has stuff to play with on the front and he can push around when he's big enough. Didn't want the kohls cash to go to waste so I got that over with! My family and my husbands are very generous with clothes. I haven't purchased any clothing for him yet!
  • FYI Melissa and Doug are having a big BOGO on puzzles and classic wooden toys on their website.

Where do you get the matching pj's? We have our first this year for Christmas, and that was something I wanted to start.
  • I'm going to get her a personalised stocking & Santa sack that we can put out every year. She will only be 7 months.
