Running?!

Hey ladies! I'm still able to run but my husband seems to be getting more uneasy about it as I grow bigger (bouncing & heart rate). Just curious what you are up to and how you're feeling exercise wise! 25 weeks + 2d 8:30min mile!

Do you have a heart rate monitor on a Garmin or anything? That may help put his mind at ease. Maybe you both can discuss it at your next dr's appt so he feels better about it and you both understand whats safe. As long as you aren't pushing yourself too hard or experiencing any cramping or pain it should be ok since you ran before. I didn't stick with it bc I was so miserable at the beginning but I think it's awesome you did!

  • If you're not getting major pains and your Dr is happy with you running it should be fine. Nobody knows your body as well as you, if you feel comfortable running then it's fine to keep going.
If the bouncing is bothering you, I know there are support bands you can get for pregnant bellies for things like this. The HR should also not be an issue, unless you're starting to get light headed. Your body will make sure your baby gets what it needs first.

It's definitely awesome you're still running! I'm expecting to stop in a couple of weeks, I'm already super slow (22+6).
  • I'm 25+2 as well and still running too. As long as you don't have any complications or risk factors that would make running a problem, you can run as long as you want. Last pregnancy my doctor put me on bedrest but told me he had another patient who ran a marathon at 40 weeks with his blessing.
  • I'm 26 weeks 1 day and still running... Although it's turned into more of a jog! My doctor said as long as I am not having any pains or discomfort I can continue. He did mention I may have to switch to the bike or elliptical as I get bigger so it's lower impact but for now I am still feeling ok! My husband looks at me like I'm crazy when he sees my pregnant self on the treadmill at the gym haha
  • My doctors have suggested that keeping my heartrate at or about 140 is ideal.  As such, my runs have turned much more into jogs, but i'm still out there.  My doctors have maintained that if I did it before I can keep doing it as long as I stay hydrated, don't overheat and stop if anything doesn't feel right (i.e. cramping or pain)
  • As long a you doc is ok with it then i'd say your fine.
  • Having to keep your heart rate under a certain BPM during pregnancy exercise has been debunked.  You look great, keep up the good work as long as you are comfortable!  I ran a lot during my first pregnancy, but this time around my joints feel loser so I have not been able to.
