Ok STM's, what do you suggest for on the body baby carriers? I've seen the wraps but think they'd get too hot but the book bag looking things don't look comfy. What do you suggest?
FTM but the only thing my husband wanted was a baby carrier. He tired them all on at babies r us and put the ergo on our registry. However he found the Eddie Bauer was more comfortable, easier to put on and even tested it out with our nephew. Both DH and Beckett loved it! So for half the price that's the one we ended up with! Hopefully our baby likes it just as much as Bex's did!!
I used a moby with our last & didn't really have another carrier. This is our 3rd and I'll need my hands while chasing around our toddler, I have the boba wrap (which is more stretchy than the moby & super comfy) and then we just got an ergo (for $60 on zulily) so my husband can "wear" the baby too I have also heard wonderful things about the lillebaby carrier, but had to snag the ergo for the deal!
We got the K'Tan for when baby is little and the Tula for when they are a little bigger. I am really excited about using both! One reason is just to be hands free but another reason will be a tool to use when trying to train baby to transition from on-demand eating to getting on a more formal eating schedule (I have read that carriers are a great way to distract the baby and stretch them onto a schedule). Not sure if this is going to work, but it makes sense to us and we are going to give it a try.
We also got a K'tan. Figured I'd try that while the baby is little, see if I/the baby like it, and go from there. I've read mixed reviews; some people say the K'tan is only good for little babies, others I've watched on youtube use it for their 2-year-olds. Didn't want to invest too much for now.
FWIW, fiancee is not a fan of (him) baby wearing. He just doesn't get it, and that's ok. So any and all baby wearing is on me, LOL.
FTM here but I ended up getting the LilleBaby All Seasons Carrier. It's similar to the Eego but I felt like it had better support and I loved the All Seasons version because it allows you to zip open or closed an airflow mesh compartment. Plus, you don't have to invest in the infant support insert, like you do with the Ergo. I would recommend going in and trying on different brands. Everyone can offer what worked for them but until you try them on, you can't be sure it fits your body and give you support where you need it.
I read a ton of reviews and decided on the Beco! It's been a while now but I think the pros were it worked for infants and bigger babies and you can do front or parent facing. And it's very adjustable which is important for us because I'm a foot shorter than hubs.
Baby carriers are different for each person. Some love one over another, while others like something different. For us, I have a stretchy wrap for the newborn days and just recently got a Beco for when he's bigger, and a woven wrap that I could use at any age. I had an ergo with my last three and it worked great for us, but it's past it's prime and no longer comfortable (after 6 years of use!). Look for a baby wearing group in your area. They should have a bunch of different brands that you can try on and find what fits you best.

This time around we have a huge assortment of carriers. I LOVE Lenny Lamb SSC (buckle carriers). They're super soft wrap conversions that are a hell of a lot more affordable and easier to find/buy than Tula wrap conversions. We also have a few Tula ring slings and a Wrapsody Baby stretchy hybrid wrap.
I had a Moby for my first and found it too complicated, I also never felt secure bending over in it. I also had a Bjorn and it killed my back once DS got about 12 or 13 lbs.
This time around I bought a ring sling which I really like, its pretty easy to get on and DS2 seems to feel really comfortable in it. I still use the Bjorn for really quick things because it is so easy to get on and off but I only like to wear him in that for a few minutes at a time so not around the house.
I used Lucie's List to figure out what I wanted this time around, she does a pretty in depth pro/con of several different carriers, slings and wraps.
