Did you have a D&C or miscarry naturally? My HCG levels took forever to come down. Finally negative 3 1/2 months after the procedure. Sometimes it just takes a very long time to come down. Especially if it was high. I don't see the need to constantly retest every week if its still that high....it's obviously dropping. My dr had me get tested every 2 weeks until it was negative. Hang in there...you will get back to normal eventually!

I had a d and c 4 weeks ago. This is my second d and c. My last one my OB didn't do weekly test but this one is. The weekly testing feels like it's making me more anxious. Hoping to have a way lower number in a week!
@sophia1913 It certainly does make you anxious...and not only that...as long as it's dropping it shouldn't be an issue. My HCG levels took so long to drop - but they were dropping. Going in every week would have been excruciating AND costly on my insurance! Every other week was enough to see it's progress as it dropped back down to negative. I'm glad my doctor didn't push for it like that.
I'm sorry for your losses btw. I suffered 4 miscarriages so far. Had 1 D&C...the others were chemicals. So going in every week to see your HCG levels drop and watching your once pregnancy drift further and further away would just be adding salt to the wounds. It just sounds a bit excessive to me and unnecessary. (I would understand if your levels weren't going down) but sometimes I think Dr.s get insurance happy and make you do things that you don't need to. I've experienced it so many times - so I guess I am more cautious.
I just had a nurse tell me that I needed bloodwork done before my HSG last week that even my own doctor didn't recommend. I asked the nurse, if I needed these tests...why didn't my doctor order them and tell me herself? Why is some random nurse, whom I have only talked with over the phone, telling me to go in to get my estrogen, and HCG levels done or they won't do my procedure? It sounded ridiculous because I knew I wasn't pregnant and why the heck did they need my estrogen to do an HSG? So I opted not to get the tests done since I felt I didn't need to and guess what...they weren't needed. The procedure was done and everything was fine! So sometimes I feel that offices get a little insurance happy, and make you go through hoops you don't necessarily need to jump through. I'm not saying all doctors do this - and I know there are some exceptions as to why you might need to get tested every week. But from my own personal experiences...it's usually not necessary.

I totally agree! At this point they are going down so Im not sure either what's the point of all this. Im sorry for your losses as well. I had a d and c with my first pregnancy. Got pregnant right after which thankfully was a healthy pregnacy and we now have a 2 year old son and then this last one ended in a d and c. It's tough and the waiting is enough to make me go crazy but I guess there's nothing else for me to do but wait. Hang in there and hugs to you!
@sophia1913 That's awesome that you had a normal and healthy pregnancy! I am hoping after all the tests, that the next time we start trying again it will stick this time! I seem to have some clotting disorders, so I will be taking Lovenox, baby aspirin and progesterone this next time around. Still waiting for the husbands results for all his tests - which we will find out tomorrow...but I think he is fine. So hopefully we can get to try again next month and praying that these remedies will work this time!
Hang in there and try to keep yourself busy while you wait! My whole house is redecorated and my hair color has changed numerous times! Anything to occupy my time I suppose! Hugs to you too!
